Here's a quick check list for most common cost of SRS / Air bag problem.

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger seat belt buckles

Dirty contacts on seat belt connectors (under seats)

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger sides weight sensors (under seat)

Seat covers

Weight on passenger seat
(Example: grocery package trigger SRS / Air Bag light on the way home.)

I recommend you to pass an vacuum over the contacts and use CRC electronic parts cleaner to rule out connectivity problem.

I DO NOT recommend disconnecting the negative battery connector to clean the code(s).

Without the code(s) the dealer will takes "BILLABLE" time to reproduce the problem.

SRS,stands for "Supplemental Restraint System".If this lite is on ,it means your airbags are deactivated.Take it to a dealer.Only way to resolve issue, that I know of.

What does the pictures on the dashboard mean? for example i know when the oil is low because the oil sign shows up what does the other sign mean?

Read your owners manual it will tell exactly what they are. A low fluid slsymbol could be your winshield wiper tank is low on fluid or it could be your coolant level is low in your engine. Try filling the windshield fluid first if the light goes out, then there you go. Become aquainted with your owners manual.

Is there any way to disable the passenger side airbag (in the dashboard) in a 2009 impala? If so, does anyone know how? The owners manual does not seem to cover the topic, so I am guessing the answer is...

The Airbag is automatically disabled if the occupant is under 50 pounds in the passenger seat, there is an electronic scale in the seat, this is called a "SMART OR ADAPTIVE" Airbag system, so no need to worry about children in the seat be injured that are under 50 pounds. There is no safe way to disable the system without turning off all the Airbags in the SRS system. Please rate my help for Fixya, it is the only thing I ask for my 35 years of automotive expertise.

What do you mean by SRS in the light in the dashboard

Hi,

Supplementry Restraint System (SRS) = Airbag

Your vehicle's computer has detected a critical issue within the Airbag circuit.

You will need to have the codes read from your computer, to determine which component is causing this.

SRS light blinking then staying on?

A flashing/steady-on SRS light indicates a problem with the SR system. Because the system contains an explosive, it is best serviced by a Saab trained and certified tech; you can be seriously hurt working on it yourself. SRS system problems can be diagnosed and fixed, and the light reset, by the dealer or trained workshop tech.

Pulling the bulb from the warning lights on the panel treats the symptom, without curing the cause - you've still got whatever fault triggered it in the first place! Definitely not recommended for a safety feature. (You wouldn't just pull the bulb if your ABS light stayed on, would you? Wouldn't you want to know why?)

The best source of info on this car is the "Bentley Bible" aka the Saab 900 Official Service Manual, costs about $40 from Amazon!

16 valve manual: http://www.amazon.com/Saab-900-Valve-Service-Manual/dp/0837603137

8 valve manual :http://www.amazon.com/Eight-Official-Service-Manual-1981-1988/dp/0837603102

Get the appropriate manual for your car and enjoy the Saab!

Hope this info helps; if it does, please give a "thumbs up"

Thanks

Flashing light on dashboard

I would have to say it is the anti-theft light since it only flashes after you lock the doors which if this is that is normal, shows system is armed. However when looking through the owners manual on a 2003 model it shows it as THEFT and not a key,2002 shows the same, however 2004 shows a lock. The only thing I see that even closely resembles a key is the temp warning indicator.

You can go to this website and pick owner guides on the left task bar, then input your vehicle info, then pick get owner guides, then pick the owner manual and it will show you a picture of the instrument cluster and what everything means.
