Question about Ford Bronco II
1987 bronco 2.. i have been fighting it for a month now. first i floated it in a mud pit in the woods. then got pulled out drove home fine, next day go to start it and click, click, click. starter not spining over. pulled starter off. the bendix was stuck, i figured it would, that happens all the time. so i have it rebuilt and i put it back on, this was about 2 days later. and it spins over and starts but then dies when i pull off the jump box. i figured the starter must have shorted out the alt. to so i had it rebuilt also. after i put it back on and go to start it i noticed that when i had the jump box hooked up the key was off but the fuel pump was on....... after tearing the whole dang wiring harness apart, and i mean the whole thing. the ignition switch was working the computer was working, there was no melted wires as i thought there would be, but the whole ignition system was on. but only while the door was open... after unpluging and testing everything and asking everyone i knew what they thought... I finally Found The Answer... I Unpluged the door chime and opened it up, a diode and a shot on the board where burned out, i pulled on off my ranger and pluged it in and fixed the problem... after about $150 and a month of headaches. now just gotta tape up all the wiring harness again. but any way just thought i should spread the word.
