Is that the only DTC under Address Word 03 "Brake Electronics"? Check connections from each wheel sensor and clean magnetic pickup area for debris.

what the real problem
faulty diagnostic fault scanner tool
or no engine bay fault codes?

you could toss lots of new parts and not fix the faults
tow to a workshop or DIY fixes are possible if you can know the
specific fault codes
po500 seems to fit

a few things going wrong for that astra
fixable
speed sensor

Code p1649 power train data us missing message from abs ecu

As you noted, a P1649 code is basically a communication error. It is generally caused by 2 things, either a short in the CAN bus data wires, there are 2 wires, wrapped around each other,Can high and Can low, or the central terminal resistor, which is located inside the ECM. You can test the wires for resistance or a short fairly easily with a good multimeter, but checking the resistor is more difficult, and requires a breakout box and a good scan tool. Might be a good idea to let a VW dealer or a good shop that specializes in VW to diagnose it and take it from there.

Code p1649 abs light stays on and brake light flashes

code p1649 refers to CAN data bus, ABS-- no signal==causes--ABS control module trouble /s stored , --wiring--matching resistor in ECM

Check with a VW service centre as it may be a problem in the ECM connected to the ABS control module.

The indicator light on my 2000 vectra wont turn off

Cluster warning lights

Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS, TPMS, MIL, CEL and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

Legend of Abbreviations. ABS Anti-lock brake system. TCS Traction control system, TCM Transmission control module, SRS Supplemental restraint system, BCM Body control module. TPMS Tire Pressure Monitor System, MIL Malfunction Indicator Lamp, CEL Check Engine Light.

Changed brakes, checked fluid and checked senors and fuse all ok but the ABS light is still on! Why?

The only way to know for sure why your Antilock Brake light is on is to scanyour Antilock Brake Module and retrieve the fault code that has set and turned the light on. If you have not accessed the Brake Control Module and checked the data, I don't know how you could have possibly "Checked the sensors". This data MUST be accessed to see if the module is recieving the signal from the sensors in order to know if the sensors are good. If you have done this, then you should have also recieved the fault code to let you know what the problem is. You cannot scan your vehicle with a generic OBD code reader to get ABS information. You must have a scanner that has a data interface for accessing the Control Area Network (CAN) on your vehicle.

Abs light is on

When the ABS (Anti Lock Brake System) light is on it means the systems control module has detected a failure and the ABS is disabled, this means you just have regular non ABS brakes. To find out what the fault is requires the ABS control module be scanned with a special tool to see what fault codes show up.

There are 4 codes I need to know about P0810, P1132, P1618, and P1633, 2001 Volvo V-70 24T

810 neutral check, incorrect connection
  • Check the transmission and control module connectors. Check for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent faults
  • 1132 front o2 sensor signal too high
1618 dtc is in another module
Volvo does not provide information regarding DTC P1633 for many of their models.
However, it has been reported that various Volvo engine control modules will produce this code. The code is associated with a missing or inaccurate vehicle speed signal from the ABS control module and may be accompanied by DTC P0722 or P1618.

    Possible causes:
    - Defective vehicle speed signal to the ABS control module
    - CAN connection problem
    - Defective ABS control module
    - Defective engine control module

Manufacture codes associated with this P code may include ECM-510f, 530d.

    Code c1277 (steering angle sensor)

this vehicle uses a steering control module and the antilock control module. Both modules get a signal from the steering angle sensor. We found that the steering module didnot show a steering sensor code but the ABS module did show the code.
after checking that the wiring was intact and with good continuity, it was determined that the fault lies in the ABS module.
A new ABS module and configuration confirmed the diagnosis. It's fixed!
