2005 Volkswagen Golf - door switches for dome lights

The dome lights do not come on when the driver's door is opened. The lights work with all other doors. Anybody know where to find the switch, so as I can try working on it? Thanks.

You would have to remove the interior door panel and remove the actual door latch, its a part of the latch itself.

I have a golf 5 2005 model. I cannot lock or unlock the drivers door with the remote and the indicator light on mirro of the same door doesnt show. The problem happens sometimes on the front left door....

Check the wires in between the door and the chasis. Remove the rubber insulation and check for broken wires. This is a common problem. I also have a Golf 5 and recently same thing happened on my deriver side. Onces I resoldered the wires and insolate them seperatly so that no open wires are visible, I reconnect and the alarm + door worked with the remote.

Hi, When closing the driver's side door, the door

The obvious choice is the cheapest. Somewhere in the door jamb is a small push button switch which either closes opens a circuit when the door is closed. That state is relayed to the computer which turns the interior lights and the door ajar system on or off . The switch generally either screws or snaps in. So as a first step I would get another switch and replace it. If it still does not work then I think the fault lies in the computer, however it is a VW and I have been wrong before.

Dash lights and rear lights go out if driver side door is opened

There is a electric contact in the door to turn on the dome light when open and off when closed. It sounds like that switch is bad or the wire attached to it has fallen off behind the doorsill. It may be another door though, since all work the dome light. Try opening the other doors one by one to see if they light up the dome. Theres no guarantee because the seat or seatbelt may come into effect.

2006 Jetta TDI. Drivers door lock will not lock or open with remote, also no dinging sound when lights left on, drivers door does not show open on display, powe mirror not working on drivers door. I have...

I had what sounds like the same problem on a 2001 GTI VR6 and found that the solder joints on the driver's side door lock module were cracked. I removed the module and resoldered the joints. This corrected the remote functions, key in and lights on dinging and dome lights lighting when the door is opened. Still working on correcting the power mirrors but everything else is working again.

This URL has excellent instructions for removing the module. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1015107
