My 1999 Nissan Maxima engine knocks when I go uphill or accelerates. I am using premium gasoline (RON95) and there is no fault code with the computer. I have tried changing to cooler spark plugs, decarbonising the engine and checking the ignition coils, all to no avail! Finally, I cleaned the MAF, and everything is alright!
It appears that I am using K&N air filters and some fine powdery dirt got accumulated on the MAF wire.
The car runs fine since.
By the way, when the MAF is dirty, the onboard computer cannot get an accurate assessment of how much air is going into the engine. So, less gas is sent into the engine. When going uphill or accelerating, the engine is "starved" of gas and knocks.
Nissan garages could find a squat of the problem!!! Totally unhelpful!!!
Mate check your timing.it could too advance bro.have that checked and i think it should be allright
