Does this use the little switch mounted on the master cylinder for the cruise control? if so, disconnect the switch (small 2 wires) and see if that may fix it. Ford has had a LOT of problems with that switch, may be covered under a recall, call Ford with your VIN number and have them check if its covered.

I have a 1999 Audi A6 quattro my right brake light went out I went to to switch the bulb and the bulb was OK but wont come on now I can't put my shift gear into gear without turning my lights on

There's should be a shift interlock that prevents it from being put into gear unless the brakes are on; check if the fuse it good for the brake lights; it seems to somehow be tied in with the parking lights, which may be feeding into the brake light circuit.

How do I get truck in gear after its started. The battery is good the truck starts right up but cannot move shifter it's an automatic

Step on brake pedal have some one tell you if brake lights are on .if not you probably have a bad brake light switch or a blown fuse once repaired it will let you put the shifter in gear. if this was helpful please leave good feed back

Taurus brake light switch

It wont go into gear because you have no power to your brake light switch or your brake light switch is bad. test your fuses with a test light or volt meter if all are good replace brake light switch. Its probably a blown fuse if this was helpful please leave good feed back

My shifter is stuck in park and i do not have any brake lights when the peddle is pressed

Brake light switch located above the Brake pedal arm. It also serves as a safety, preventing it from accidentally being put into gear.

The rear brake lights won't go out no matter what we do. (2003 Mercury Mountaineer) We tried starting the car...putting it in gear...backing up...going forward...turning headlights on and...

You have a faulty Brake Light Switch, and it is stuck on.

Replace your brakelight switch. Until you replace it, you could pull the breaker out of the fuse panel in order to keep your battery from dying.

Cant push the button to put in gear

CHECK MAKE SURE BATTERY FULLY CHARGED IT HAS TO BE 12.5 VOLTS BEFORE THE BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID WORKS.IF BATTERY POWER GOOD CHECK BRAKE LIGHTS TO SEE IF BRAKE LIGHTS SWITCH IS WORKING.IF NO CHECK FUSE.IF FUSE GOOD BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH IS FAULTY. IT CONTROL THE BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT SOLENOID ALSO THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH.IF FUSE AND BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH IS GOOD.YOUR PROBLEM COULD BE A FAULTY NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH OR BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT SOLENOID FAULTY.

Cannot put car in gear.

First, check that the brake lights are working, if they are not , then check the fuse. If the brake lights are working , then check the switch that is connected to the brake pedal, that the wires are good connections. If they look ok, then cross the 2 wires at the switch and try the gear selector, if it works, then its the switch thats faulty, if not then it could be the actuator on the gear selector mechanism thats faulty. Hope trhat helps

Electrical problem- horn and stop light fuse keeps blowing

With the fuse blowing like that very likely you have short to ground that is one of the wires to the horn or stop lights is making contact with the body of the car.
As for the gear problem, there is a solenoid that is responsible for unlocking the gear shifter when you step on the brake with the key on the run position even if not running.

I have a 1994 F-350 Crew Cab Dually. Fuse #13 keeps blowing out and the shift lever locks and won't allow me to put the truck in gear to move it. I was told that a swith on the brake pedal could be at...

i would try looking at the wires to the trailer hitch under the rear of the box where the whip that runs to the front which has a plug on it,connects to where it branches off to go to each tail light, somewhere there is a short blowing the brake light fuse. When that happens you wouldnt be able to shift it unless you turn the key on until it unlocks the steering, then shift it to neutral, then start it then it would go into gear to drive it but you still wouldnt have brake lights.

ABS LIGHT ON, SHIFT LOCKED, NO BRAKE LIGHT.

If your brake lights don't work Its because you blew the fuse  which Is located In the main fuse panel under steering wheel.  Without break lights your rover will fire up nice but wont shift out of park until you replace the fuse.  If your ABS Is acting up It Is also an easy fix.  Disconnect the ABS from each wheel.  You still got all wheel disc breaks that work great but no ABS.  Your other option is  thousands of $$.  If your breaks are weak check your master cylinder and make sure you got enough fluid and that you are not loosing the fluid.  If you notice you are leaking brake fluid because you have to keep filling it up but cannot find a leak anywhere.  I bet I know where It is.  Check your rear break lines and make sure one of them didn't get caught in your rear springs and pinched ever so slightly when you were doing dounuts In the snow.
Good luck,
