Odyssey door didn't close fully. Lubricated latch and closed latch with door open--how do I get ;atch to open again? Tried the fuse pulling trick, no change

Your solution to open the stuck Odyssey sliding door latch only works on the door that isn't broken. I seem to get no power signal to the broken driver's side--the latch will not budge and the door does not initiate closing when the handle is pulled. Voltages are 12.8v resting and 14.4v charging.
Original problem was driver's door did not close fully, required pushing, so I oiled the latch and wiggled it--it is now stuck open.
The fuse trick is to reset the cycle by disconnecting the battery, or as I read, by disabling the dashboard door switch, pulling relevant fuses, opening the door manually, replace fuses, enable switch. This resulted, for me, in both doors closing only when the close-switch was held down constantly. After sitting all night, the passenger door works normally, but the broken driver's door now does not initiate closing when the close switch is pressed or the handle pulled.
I tried pushing all the electrical contact buttons on the door and frame edge, which helped in the past, and cleaned them with alcohol. Lock switch is off. This whole problem started after having the car detailed, and something may have been sprayed on the contacts. AT this point I wonder if you could instruct me on which contacts to short across with an alligator cable to tell the door it has closed and/or the latch can open? Or do you have another plan?
Have I got a bad switch? If so please instruct me on how to replace it.

Your solution (prying it back with screwdriver while pulling the door handle)only works on the door that is not broken. Both doors now function correctly except the Driver's side still has the latch stuck in the closed position, which prevents it from fully closing.

Pulling the handle/pressing open switch on dash while manually opening latch does not work. Got other ideas?

Can you read the previous comments? That doesn't work. What else have you got?

The correct answer, which I learned from my town mechanic, is to shim out the gas fill door electrical probe. A honda safety feature prevents the Driver's side slider from unlocking when the gas door is open. I shimmed it with double stick tape and a washer. Next time you will know, thanks for trying.

Which door and is this a manual open or electric open door?? Try pulling the door handle as you would do when opening the door from the inside/outside. Make sure the door in unlocked and the latch should click to the open postion so you can close. Check for any damage or rust that may cause the latch to seize up and not open....

A very primitive method of putting a screw driver into the latch and pushing it the other way. Works sometimes like it worked otherwise when you closed it.

Pull the handle on the door, as if you are opening the door, and at the same time, flip the latch open with your fingers

Insert a screw driver or finger into the void where the striking post would go in the door latch . hold the door handle in the open position while using finger or screw driver to pull out and up on the latch arm itself. door handle has to be in the open position to work!

please let me know what you meant by fuse trick? not quite clear on tht. if you have more question or didn't understand something lease ask. thank you and good luck

How can I open a Chevy door latch which is closed while the door is open

that would happen to me and my sisters almost regularly when I was younger. Simply pull the greasy latch open with your finger while operating the door latch that would normally open the door. If its too tough for a finger, which it should not be and never was for me then you could use a screwdriver to pry it, but obviously nothing will happen if you do not pull the door latch at the same time.

YJ wrangler door wont close

Start out by checking the latch mechanism on the door. Use a screwdriver to "trip" the latch with the door open, then pull on the screwdriver against the latch gate. If it doesn't hold then you may have a bad latch (the springs in the latch can go bad over time). You can also try spraying penetrating oil (PB Blaster) into the latch and again using a screwdriver to trip the latch, then open with the handle, and repeat several times to work the oil into the mechanism and free it up (this trick also sometimes works with the springs on wiper arms that have lost tension). If the penetrating oil trick works, think about spraying dry lube or white lithium grease into the latch to help prevent it from happening again. If the door is misaligned, consider new hinge bushings, a misaligned door can cause damage to the door, and put tension on the door latch in a direction that puts pressure on the latch that it wasn't designed for.

Vw 2.0tdi the passenger door wont open from outside and wont always close??

Take off the door panel and check to see if the linkakge from the outer handle to the latch has become disconnected and for the closing problem lube the latch well more than likely its not opening fully when you pull the door open so when you go to close it it pushes the latch closed before the actual bar its suppose to latch to enters the latch

My husband took my Odyssey through the car wash in -4 degree temps. A few hours later after opening the sliding doors we couldn't get them to shut automatically. Today one door will open and close...

On the 05 Odyssey there's a problem with the rear latch assembly(about $140each) located in the rear of each sliding door. The problem is that the latch assembly was not seal proplery and water can get into the latch cause the sliding door to act funny. Maybe replace the latch assembly will help you.

My power sliding door doesn't open fully. It makes clicking sound and a somewhat of a jerking motion. It open or closes slighty but the entire it makes the above mentioned noises. Any help would be...

I'm not sure about the noise, but the jerking motion might be because your the center roller (located in the rear middle of the sliding door) has worn out and need to be replace. This is a will known problem.

Your problem is very hard to answer because 05-10 odyssey has so many problem with sliding door.

rear latch:
-door not to latch close
-door not to work

front latch:
-door not to open

lock actuator:
-door not to open
-door will pop when opening

window motor:
-window not to work
-door will only open half way

center roller:
-jerking motion when opening
-door kick back close while opening
-door kick back open while closing

Door motor:
-door not to work
-cause door to jam

good luck

I accidently pushed the housing for the 2006 H Odyssey stroker assembly in the front passenger door in. Now Ithe door canot be closed. How can I bring the wheel in the housing back into position?

Put a large screwdriver into the loop formed by the closed latch and pull the handle on the door as if you are going to open it. Put a bit of pressure with the screwdriver on the closed part (like the door post pin would if you were opening the door) and it should snap back open.

Latch in the door has been rotated around so that the door won't close

Have you tried using the key to unlock the door? I'm assuming you're referring to the lock mechanism. You can also try the remote (if you have one), click twice, it should unlatch and allow you to close the door. Let me know how you make out. good luck! countrycurt0
