Question about 2004 Mazda MPV

2 Answers

I just changed the spark plugs and wires, one by one, because the engine started running a little shaky, but the problem still persists. I took it to the shop to put it on the scanner and they told me that cylinder 6 was still misfiring. Any recommendations? And yes, the engine light is still on.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to also put on a set of good quality spark plug wires while you're at it.

I think I'd also invest in a new air filter.

Hopefully this will take care of your fuel consumption issue.

well certain comp loss up to 75psi will still keep the engine running.with less power and a little shaky motor but driveable.check fuel pressure to get that out of way.next test inigition module to see why the 3 cylinder are not getting spark.if he changed the coils.prob sounds like a second option is in order.i say so because, myself in my shop we test the eletic components first before just replacing them.costing customers more money.module first than coils then wires than plugs.theirs an order to dionoising the problem.components must be checked before replacing them.now if comp psi is very low say 50psi than replacing the head gaskets will be in order.

Car is making funny noises and wont accelerate

I had this problem also after i washed my car engine compartment, water in spark plug compartment causes this problem. remove the wire plugs from the spark plugs and dry the compartment/spark plug sockets, also open the air filter compartment and make sure it's dry and clean. also do not forget to inspect your spark plugs also, install new ones and your car will run like new! Good Luck

I suspect from your diagnostics described you may have faulty spark plug wires.start[or crank]engine in the dark ;observe plug wires, look for sparks from wires to engine,if evident, replace wires.[one at a time to maintain proper order].

Put Diesel into tank but did not run

IS your car diesel I hope

3 things your car needs to run

GAS fuel in the engine or diesel
Air air to reach the fuel to ignite it
Spark check for spark ,
unless your diesel than spark is not needed as your engine work diffrent and produces spark by engine speed when cranking and compression of both mixes above

Last check the pump make sure its pumping fuel

#5 cylinder misfire

I have a corolla and had #4 cylinder misfire also diagnosed at autozone. After changing the spark plugs, problem persisted, along with the same error code, so they recommended changing the spark plug wires, and that is what fixed it. I would have changed the rotor cap too, but was low on dough. Glad that was not the problem.

2005 xA won't start

there's a possibility that the battery is run down. If it's the original battery, chances are you need to replace it. I'd have the alternator checked as well, however the most likely problem is a worn out battery. It's not uncommon for batteries that have been maintaining their charge through the warmer months to go bad once a cold weather comes through. As for the stinky exhaust, in your attempts to start the engine with a run down battery, the engine probably loaded up with fuel, thereby causing it to run rough and stink till excess fuel was expelled from the cylinders. Hope this helps.
