    do you need to make a 3 or 4 key copy. Or do you only have 1 key. Because if you have 2 key you can use them to program the 3 key. without a ford scanner. but if you only have 1 key you will need an NGS or WDS ( Ford Scanner ). Let me know...

It is held on by 2 phillips head screws that are accessed from the inside of the door (remove the panel, remove the screws and the mirror falls down. Remove the electrical connection to the mirror motor and you are done/

SOURCE: 2004 Ford Explorer front shocks are worn out

Remove the front wheel.
Locate and remove the 3 nuts on the upper frame mount,top of the shock.(torque 20 ft lb)
Remove the nut on the sway bar link.(torque 18 ft lb)
Remove the lower bolt that goes thru lower control arm and shock.(torque 258 ft lb)
Then use a spring compressor to compress spring and remove the nut on the spring plate.(41 ft lb)

Most auto parts stores carry ignition switch replacements for just such occasions, usually around $100-$150, dealerships will charge about twice as much, hope this helps

What happens when you turn the key to start the vehicle ? Does the starter spin the engine ? Crank - no start condition ! Or does nothing happen when you turn the key to the start position ? NO - CRANK - NO START condition ! Two totally different diagnostic procedures.

The issue with the key is because the car battery ran down. This can be compounded if you jump started it.

are you using a key copy, w/o a chip in it? if so, it will immobilize. if it's a new key "with" a chip, it needs to be programmed.

The anti theft sensor on the steering colum needs


The sensor is part of the ignition key lock cylinder, so the part and labor will be around $200-$300 depends on your local labor rate, the dealer must do this repair because the new lock cylinder key code must be programmed into the VATS module.

Replaced battery and starter. My 2004 ford explorer will not start. Auto zone checked battery it was bad and checked starter it was also bad. Both replace will not start


this is a stupid idea but one of my co-workers have a 98 explorer and she lost the chip in her key. after that it still wouldnt start turns out the anti-theft kicked in and they had to reset the fuel shut off switch. your battery replacement maybe did the same? not sure where your switch is but hers was up under her passenger side floor board up front somewhere around the kick panel it was a purdy red button

2004 Explorer Sport Trac Remote Problem.


if you have a car with a memory chip sometimes the memory erases. do you have a dummy key use it if it turns on for a couple of secounds and then it turns of then your main keys need to be reprogramed hope this helps.
