My husband is working on a 1994 mercury mountanier 4.0 and he needs the timing chain markings can anyone help us out? confused in alaska

Are you certain about the year model? I think they only started with mountaineers in '97. The 4.0 engine has no timing marks. You need special tools (pulley bolt wrench, camshaft aligner and pulley aligner) Good luck on getting a workshop manager to part company with those for a couple hours.

In 97 mercury mountaineer, how to turn off "check engine" light

Go to the local parts store, have them check the codes (they will do this for free usually). It will tell you what sensor needs to be checked/replaced. Once the part is replaced, it will clear on its own. They can also reset the code, but it will come back if the trouble persists.
