This is a typical symptom of air in the cooling system.

Could also be a thermostat which is sticking.

And lastly, the bad news (but less lilkely) sometimes air is introduced when there is a blown head gasket.

The thermostat may be sticking and also check to see if your cooling fan is turning on.Also I would flush the cooling system if it hasnt been serviced regularly and replace with fresh coolant

Why is temp gauge fluctuating while driving car is not hot.

Check the coolant level. Sometimes when the coolant level is low, it will cause gauge fluctuations like you suggest, since air is getting into the cooling system. When air is in the system, it causes the thermostat to open and close frequently resulting is wild temp gauge swings.

Temperature gauge goes to hot and shortly later goes back to normal though car does not seem to run badly even while needle is at hot . reserve tank seems to draw antifreeze

you need a new thermostat, its sticking and causing you problems, soon it will just stay stuck, the reason the reserve keeps filling up is because of heat and pressure in the radiator

2000 caravan 3.0 stall after 20 min no spark restarts few hours later

This sounds like a bad (probably cracked) ignition coil.

First, the coil gets hot when operating, and this is normal.

If it is cracked, it gets hot to the point where its resistance gets so much higher that it cannot provide enough voltage for spark.

When it cools back down it starts working fine again.
