Question about 2000 Mercury Cougar

1 Answer

Jerking & powerloss during acceleration

During acceleration, the car jerks. It began shortly after I filled up the tank, so I thought it might have been bad gas. I also left the windows cracked during a heavy rain that week. Plus, the radio briefly gets loud w/ the first big ****, and the engine revs fine out of gear.

Unfortunatley, there are many problems with this model. "google" Cougar and youwill find many unhappy people. Open windows will get the inside of the car wet, but will not affect the gas. It sounds like a bad tranny, but try some drygas first.

I have a 2005 volvo xc90 t6 that is jerking when accelerating and in idle. It doesn't so it every time but is steadily increasing and began about 2 weeks ago. Check engine light will blink when on...

A blinking check engine light is the warning of an engine misfire that can cause damage to the catalytic converter. Check car by diagnostic tool and keep car well.

2000 E150 van has jerking during acceleration had new spark plugs, oil change and filters replaced. The van stalled on the highway could not get it to start. Mechanic said could be fuel pump but started...

The mechanics right on tract,If you have a misfire, you would depending on the severity misfire, run rough and stall but restart, within a short time.Because it is a s fuel pump a sufficient amount of pressure is not maintained and at the same time is being consumed ,causes you to hesitate then stall. Your pump being electical and in the tank is being intermittent, a replacement is what you going to need.
