The thermostat is located in a housing at the end of the top radiator hoseon the front of the engine. The part should cost less than $20.

The thermostat is in a "bubble" housing at the end of either the top or bottom radiator hose where it connects to the engine block -- most likely the top hose.

Rough guess for a garage to do the job would be $100-$200. Somewhat depends on how much stuff has to be removed to get to it.

Brake lines rotten, resignator replacement. I need a price on how much this would cost to replace these two things including labor. I would greatly appreciate it if you answered today because my car is in...

It depends on how much time it takes for them to do it.
But, I know from experience that the brake lines might cost $120 for one brake line, and the resonator might cost anywhere from $100 ro $150.

Prices will vary from garage to garage, however.

I live in a small town where the mechanics practically give their labor away ($38 per hour).

In the city the labor is more like $80 per hour. So, you can guess the variation that one might pay for the same service on the same car but different garages.

Replaced thermostat for 2001 Volvo S40, however, car is still reading as if it were hot. Coolant also added. What could be further issue? A sensor is what the repair garage suggested. Has anyone else had...

I recently took my car in for this problem. The thermostat was replaced a year ago. This time they replaced the thermostat and the IAT (air intake temperature sensor). The thermostat was 20 and the IAT was 50, with labor it all came to $140. Most sites online that I found suggested replacing both the sensor and the thermostat at the same time. When the thermostat goes, it usually takes the sensor with it. So I'd have them replace your sensor too. Good luck.

You are just paying a mechanic a labor, the thermostat is like $7 and flush is just new antifreeze. I prefer do it your self, it is very easy job. About reservoir, I don’t know how is that going to cost you, not more then $50
