Shift indicator not working correctly

This is a common concern on explorer, shift indicator cable breaks.if you're the diy type this is a pretty easy repair. Remove steering column cover top and bottom, and instrument'll see shifter indicator coming out of bottom of instrument cluster and cable wrapped around steering column, attached to the'll have to remove 4 screws for cluster,7mm, tilt the bottom of the cluster and look where indicator is attached, usually 2 7 mm bolts or clips, remove and replace indicator...if the steering column was lowered without taking off indicator cable it would break cable, or could be band that wraps around column that's loose or broken..either way cheap fix..

How to repair turn signal lever

In order to repair the lever you must replace the turn signal switch, this requires the **** shell covers on the steering column to be removed, they are held on by 4 screws recessed in holes, then the switch is bolted to the steering column tube by two machine screws, do not break the wire connectors to the switch, remove them carefully. Always disconnect the battery negative cable before working on the steering column

Do you have instructions on how to replace the ignition switch in a honda element?

Remove the electrical plug that is plugged into the fuse box which powers the ignition switch. Remove the two bolts holding the ignition switch in place. Some Honda vehicles have blank head bolts or round head bolts. In this case, you will need to cut a groove into the center of the bolt head with a dremel and use a flat tip screwdriver to remove the bolt. Or you can try removing the bolt using a center punch and a hammer to turn the screw bolt counterclockwise. Pull the ignition switch out of the steering column and install the new switch. Installation is the reverse of removal. Here you can find the quality Honda starter parts

How do I change the Flasher on a 2000 Mercury Mystique and where can I buy one?

The turn signal flasher for a 2000 Mercury Mystique is located at the top of the steering column on the back of the multifunction switch. It plugs into terminals 31, 49 and 49A shown in the picture below.

You can get to it by removing the screws and taking the steering column shroud off.

The place to buy one would be at an auto parts store. (Just pick one...they should all have it.)

My 2003 honda pilot is difficult to shift into drive

There could be a number of issues with a Honda Pilot not shifting into drive. In fact, I had this problem with my 2003 Honda Pilot two weeks ago and had to replace my transmission. More than 100,000 2003 Honda Pilots were recalled in 2004 because of a transmission problem -- was your Honda part of that recall? If so, Honda may help you with some of the costs.

If the problem is not with the transmission, I suggest making sure that your steering column is not locked. You will also notice that on the top of the steering column is a small plate. If you remove the plate and press down with a coin, you can unlock the steering column, enabling you to shift into drive.

Hopefully these solutions will help...but be sure to see your auto service shop for more details on your situation.

Removing steering wheel

It's actually more simple than you think. First disconnect the negative cable from you car battery. then remove the plastic housing around your steering column. Next disconnect the air bag harness from it's plug. What ever you do don't apply any electrical testers or live circuitry to any of the air bag components and wirings. There should be two screws on the back side of your steering wheel. Remove these and the rest should be self explanitory.
