Question about 1983 Jeep CJ7

83 CJ7 head lights, parking lights and turn signals problems.

I have an 83 CJ7 and my headlights, parking lights, and turn signals don't work properly. Only side and rear turn signals work and only front and rear parking lights work. When I pull the headlights switch on, they don't come on, but the high beam indicator and right turn signal indicator on the dash illuminate. All the bulbs are good and I've cleaned the grounds for the lights, which only resulted in a different combination of lights working improperly. I've measured voltage across wires with a multi-meter with mixed results - sometimes volts are present, other times not. Any suggestions?

Well, the headlight switch would have no connection to the brake and turn signals. But you could have a ground problem somewhere.
I would want to trace the circuit from the brake switch to the tail lamps with the headlights on to verify.
And does it matter if you are using headlights or just parking lights.

Could be as simple as the park light fuse is blown.

1994 Pontiac Grand am Tailights all work normaly except when the headlights are on and then they don't work at all?

Could be the headlight switch.
The switch has two sets of contacts for the parking lights, the park position and headlight position.
You may need to check the circuit at the switch to see if you are loosing power when the switch is moved from park to head.

You either have the headlight dimmer control turned off or the dimmer control rheostat is defective

Don't waste your time looking for a headlamp relay. You will not find one. 1983 Monte Carlo does not use a headlamp relay. Your problem is most likely a defective headlamp dimmer switch. It is located about halfway down the upper left side of the steering column. It is secured by the same screws that mount the ignition switch. It is activated by a metal rod that pushes down on it when you pull back on your turn signal lever. It looks like the picture below.

Bypass head light switch and see what you get. Three items can cause your problem . The head light switch, flasher relay , shorts in circuit. I would go with switch.

Headlights won't turn on , on my 83 cj7. where is the fuse?

no installed fuse. you have fusible link, near the battery terminal, and a breaker, if your ligths cant on but light bulb is good, it is switch problem or the fusible link

Hot means poor connection. You are on the right track.

Blinkers work except when.......

Sounds like you have a ground problem on the lights.
I'm assuming that the front lights that don't work are the directionals.
You might want remove one then turn on the headlights and try a temporary ground wire to the black wire. If it works then either check your ground wire from the battery to the chassis or install a separate ground wire the the light assembly.
As far as blinking fast, make sure all your lights are working. If one bulb is out that could be the problem.
Replace the dimmer switch.
