Leaking valve cover gasket, leaking pan gasket, leaking oil pressure sending unit, front crank pulley seal, rear main seal, the only way to pin this down is to have the engine cleaned top and bottom with a steam cleaner or pressure washer, then run it and see where the oil is coming from.

Your the only one that can answer where, check the oil filter and the oil light switch first.

SOURCE: I have a 1991 Honda civic and the car will start but it will not

Have you changed the fuel filter? If your battery has power in it it is not the alternator. If the alternator is not charging the engine will become slugish as the battery power nears zero and the light will become dimmer and dimmer until they go out.

Why would my 96 honda civic be burning oil

Is it burning it or leaking it? If it is burning it then it could be caused from worn out valve seals or valve guides or worn out or cracked piston rings. The engine will have to be torn down to fix a problem like this. You may try using a product like motor honey or lucal oil stabalizer to help slow down the oil burning. There is no easy fix for a problem like this unfortunately

Sheared camshaft sprocket key, sprocket turns freely.

One psooibility to this is that there was insufficient oil going to the cam bearings and the camshaft seized. The oil galleries in the head could be plugged therefore not supplying oil to the cam bearings.
There is a posibility that the valves are not bent but you would have to check them carefully. that could be checked out when thw head is machined because if the cam seized you'll have to take the head off and have it serviced.( cam bearing seats machined and oil galleries cleared. Hope this helps you out
