YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR TESTED.IF THEY DO END UP TESTING O.K,THEN YOU MAY NEED THE STARTER SOLENOID THAT BOLTS TO THE CAR ,NOT THE ONE ON THE STARTER ,REPLACED.YOU CAN CHECK IT BY CROSSING IT OVER WITH A SCREWDRIVER ACROSS THE TWO LARGE COPPER POSTS,IF THAT MAKES THE CAR START,THEN REPACE IT.IF THE CAR STILL DOES NOT START,MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD GROUND TO THE STARTER.

My car will not start. The battery is new and has a full charge and turns everything on when I turn the key but when I try to start it, it will not do anything not even clicking noise.

if the battery is good it is NOT the alternator. the alternator charges the battery, if it won`t start with a new battery the alternator does nothing to affect the situation. check voltages at the starter motor connections for proper voltages even the wires that the ignition switch supplies power to. if you have proper voltages at the starter you can try hitting the starter while someone tries to start the car. if it starts the starter is worn internally and will have to be replaced.

Will not start, clicking noise when key is turned

sounds like a dead battery ---turn on dome light and turn key to start if dome light goes out or dims very low than battery needs boost or replacement--if light not affected check ignition system -key -not worn down(didnt specify yr and vehicle)relays fuses and connections to starter and starter itself-------also have starter checked may be have short

2003 trailblazer wont start. I turn the key and get one click.

Take care when following these tips.
The click is the starter relay but the starter is dead. If its the type with a solenoid riding on the outside try a jump lead straight on the terminal that has the battery lead on it.
If nothing and there is a second terminal closer to the starter body try that one. If the starter responds with a spin you will probably have to remove it, fit a replacement solenoid or another starter.
Tapping the starter only works if the solenoid is a bit dicky.

I have a 1992 ford f250. Starts great when cold. When the engine is warm and I've parked it for a few minutes or a few hrs it experiences a very hard start. New battery, new alternator, new battery...

IF you are saying that the starter motor is sluggish to turn over as if the batter is flat or low (6cylinder) then the problem is overheating of the starter. There is a shield that is available from ford to keep air flow around the starter. I found the answer to be a high performance starter (used for worked motors) as it is not affected by the heat.

My darango won't start, replaced that alternator and relays. starter is still good. but it won't even click over.

this could be as simple as a bad battery have you tryed to jump start it? if you try and that dosent work make sure you have power going to the starter with jumper cables on the battery. it should at the very least make a clicking sound while trying to start it check the battery posts also make sure they are clean and if it does click give it a minute and try starting it again.[ dont take the cables off the battery while waiting] the fact the starter doesent even click when you try to start it tells me no power to it or bad starter remember just because its new dosent mean it works i cant tell you how many times i have put somethig on a car and had to take it back off because it didnt work from the boxx new. and make sure the starter wires are tight and clean. if no clicking and you have power to starter then starter is bad.. i hope this helps..

One question with many answers. It could be the starter,
or a good battery with dirty or bad cable connections or a
loose connection on the wire to the starter. Did the problem
occur gradually or all of a sudden? Usually the starter will
begin to warn you before it fails. A bad rotor, distributor or
alternator will not prevent the car from cranking.

Hello, it sounds to me like your alternator isn't charging the battery. That is why the new battery only worked for two days. A new fully charged battery would last about that long. I would suggest having the battery charged and then take the vehicle somewhere and have the alternator tested. Also carefully inspect the battery cables for corrosion or damage.

2004 Kia Rio Won't Start Clicking Noise Battery is GOOD

My 2004 Kia Rio just started losing compression and died on me. I tried starting it and it only clicks. I checked the battery cables and they are not corroded and very tight. Could it be the battery or the alternator not charging the battery? there is no water in the oil and it's not the water pump.

if all it does is click with a new battery it is not the alternator because all the alternator does is charge the battery i would take the starter or selinoid off if it isnt built in with the starter and have it tested the same as you did the battery
