To check for bad struct bounce the front iend up and down very hard, after you stop it should stop after one more up or down bounce, if it keeps moving the struts are no good.

Vibration in the front end

a vibration could be a few things from a bad tire a tire not ballenced right, bad tie rod or tie rod end, a ball joint bad struts, sway bar , swaybar end links, or a bad hub and bearing, if you dont know what you are looking for the best thing to do is take it to a shop and have the diagnose is, it will be a lot cheaper then replacing alot of parts until you replace it, heres a tip if the vibration is only when you are driving fast and its only btween a 5mph range then you need your tires ballenced

FRONT END SHAKES WHILE DRIVING OVER BUMPS

It could be several things. First check your shocks by pushing down on the bumper with your knee 3 quick times to make it bounce. It should come up and down once, stopping in the middle of the second up. If it moves any more than that the shocks or struts need replacing.

Then check your tie rod ends and ball joints. There are 4 tie rod ends on your vehicle. They are attached to the front wheel and the steering box. There is an outer one on the wheel and an inner one at the steering rack. Try to move them side to side or up and down. Any movement means they need to be replaced.

To check the ball joints, you will have to jack the wheel up so it is clear of the ground. Grab the tire at 12 and 6 o'clock and try to move it in and out. If it moves, then have someone watch as you move it and see if the movement is at the bottom ball joint or the top one, if your car has an upper ball joint. Front wheel drive cars with spring/strut suspension don't have upper ball joints.

I would be inclined to suspect the tie rod ends as being your problem, but it could easily be multiple things so check them all. Hope this helps.

My 1990 toyota celica has a bad vibration in the Problem with the Toyota Celica 1990 Celica my 1990 toyota celica has a bad vibration in the passenger side front i have replaced tie rod ends, ball joints,...

Hi,
Have you ever replaced the shocks / struts? Are you sure your tire does'nt have a bump spot or out of round? I usually will swap the tires front to back to see if the vibration or bumping moves, good way to tell if the tire is bad. I've gotten some pretty poor tires before, some do have factory flaws that will cause that. Shocks will cause that also. Sway bar pins / joints that are worn can cause that also.

there are so many differnet things that could cause this it impossible to say without a test drive or jack up car and doing some test
some possible causes are :

Bad tires
bad bearings
bad tie rods
bad rack and pinion
Out of alignment
bad control arms
bad ball joints
bent or struts
warped brake rotors
etc.

2003 dodge neon front end vibrates at certain speeds

put the front tires on the back and drive it. If there is a change,it could be an out of balance rim, tire or bad tire.
If it does the same thing, put the wheels off the ground with a pair of jack stands and move the tire back and forth and also holding the tire on the top and bottom, see if there is any play. There should be no movement. If there is,it could be a bad tie rod end, ball joint,or a bad bearing. If you feel any movement have the suspension checked by a reputable shop.

On the front passenger side, I replaced the ball joint (it was bad), the tie rod (bad) the wheel bearing (bad) and the CV HalfShaft (bad)....yet.... there is STILL shaking on the passenger side of the car....

The new tires could be out of balance,or even though they are new could have a bad belt in one of them,If it was doing this, the problem,if it was there before the tires were installed, have the front end checked. And you may need a front end alignment. If the tie rod,and ball joint were bad on that side, then chances are the other side may have bad front end parts also. You know it needs alignment after replacing tie rod ends don`t you?Eye balling the tie rod end does not get it back in line, and it may have needed the alignment anyway,Have a 4 wheel alignment done to make sure that is out og the equation while diagnosing the problem.

I have a 2001 grand am that makes a rubbing or grinding noise from the front end. I have some vibrations in the sterring wheel as well. this is not noticable until the car is above 30mph.

Your front struts may be bad,There is a rubber seat at the top of the strut that can start to bind while driving and turning. Replace struts and realign front end.
