The CR-V uses a bulb with a small tab, typically facing up, remove the runner cover, plastic cover, retaining wire... use a small mirror to locate which direction the tab should be facing.
install the bulb while holding the retaining wire out of the way. once the bulb is in install the retaining wire carefully... check the bulb position by looking in the front of the headlamp. it should be level.
replace the plastic cover, then struggle with the rubber cover... :-) install the connector.

Replace bulb headlight

Most of the headlights do not unbolt to change bulbs. If it's a blown bulb you're trying to replace, look on the back side of the headlight housing. There should be a plug with wires attached going into the back. This plug should twist either to the right, left or up or down. Once you've twisted this plug out of the headlight housing you'll see the bulb you need to replace. Unplug the wire harness from the blown bulb and place it into the new bulb, being careful not to touch the new bulb with your bare hands as any oil or other contamination will cause these bulbs to blow as soon as they are turned on. Place the new bulb with harness back into the socket in headlight housing and twist into position.

Cant get the bulb out of the headlight

  • Locate the headlight socket cover inside the engine compartment. The cover is on the back of the headlight assembly; it is round and made of plastic or rubber.
  • 2 Remove the headlight socket cover by pulling it off or twisting it to the left and then pulling it off. You can see the headlight socket once the cover is removed.
  • 3 Grip the headlight socket, turn it to the left and pull it out of the assembly. The light bulb is connected to the socket.
  • 4 Pull the bulb straight out of the socket and discard it in a waste receptacle.
  • 5 Plug the replacement bulb into the socket, taking care not to touch the glass. The oils on your skin can shorten the life of the bulb if you touch the glass. Wear gloves to prevent touching the glass.
  • 6 Place the socket back into the light assembly and turn it to the right to lock it in place.
  • 7 Slide the headlight socket cover over the socket and press on it to secure it, or turn it to the right, depending on how you have removed it in Step 2.
  • 8 Repeat Steps 2 through 7 to replace the other headlight bulb.

Change out headlight on 2003 malibu

the bulb should unscrew (1/4 turn counterclockwise) from the back of the lens. if you cant get to the back of the lens then there should be tabs made of sheet metal (1 inch wide) that you can pull up (probably 2 on each headlight) and the lamp will pull out of the front of the car so you can reach the bulbs that way.

    Hope this helps!

Need to replace my headlight on my 2003 toyota celica can get to two of the bolts but cant seem to find the third. any ideas...

    Hello !!

well most of the Halogen light bulbs of the headlights are "turn-lock" and have a "o"ring to seal them..

Try to turn the back connector on the back of the headlight (a quarter of a turn) and pull it gently (be sure no to touch the new halogen light bulb with your fingers because it can get contaminated and burn faster)

    Good Luck!

How to change the headlight bulb on a 2001 mitsubishi galant?

On either side of the headlight wiring assembly, in the engine compartment, you will find 2 small tabs. They are located to the sides and towards the bulb of the plastic assembly. Press these 2 tabs in while pulling the wire assembly out. Remove the rubber gasket and unhook the wire spring holding the bulb in place. The bulb come right out. The bulbs are halogen so do not handle the new bulb by the glass.

    Water in the headlight

A full size bulb is about 4" x 6" and does not open. I've had Sylvania bulbs leak and they sent me 2 new ones for free. It sounds like you have a small bulb inside a plastic lens with a reflector (mirrors?) in the back and that is what is leaking, not the bulb. If your bulb looks like this: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/search/?N=9844+1586+4294965604+9219 ,then turn it counter clockwise about 1/4 turn and pull it out. There may be plastic *snaps* that must be depressed in order to turn it.
