Look towards the front of the engine compartment to where you see about a 2" black hose coming from the top on the radiator. Follow that hose to where it takes you to the top of the engine towards the front of the engine(front being the side where the belts & pulleys are. The hose goes to the top of the intake manifold. Take that hose off, take the two bolts off that hold the part the hose goes onto and between that hose barb and the engine block is your thermostat.

How do you change 1992 chev lumina heater core

if the coolant level is at the proper level and the thermostat is good then before you pull the heater core out you can try disconnecting the heater hoses and drain or blow out as much coolant out of the heater core then connect separate hoses to the spigots and fill the heater core with CLR and let it sit for an hour before draining then flush out with water and repeat if necessary this sometimes works and you won`t have to remove the heater core.

Engine sometimes runs very hot

did u check the radiator fluid? if its full then u might have a sticky thermostat. i had a 97 lumina and it had a plastic wheel on the water pump that broke inside. warm up the engine with the radiator cap off and see after it warms up if you have fluid movement. if you dont it could be either the thermostat or the pump. thermostat is the cheapest so try it first

1992 lumina just changed thermostat but temp gauge showing hot and no pressure in radiator hose. also heater core may be leaking is this my problem

that would be a problem Heater core leaks because the stupid plastic nozzles they use and hoses can crack to. Then you would have low pressure. Or if new thermostat is stuck open.
