My 97 Acura client 3.0 over heats while stopped but when I drive off it cools back down is that my fan switch making that happen?

If your car has an electric fan, then that is a very likely cause - or a failed fan itself. When driving, the movement of the vehicle thru the air cools the radiator. When stopped, little to no airflow takes place - unless your fan forced the air through it. If your fan is not running, that would explain the high temperature. Next, find out what is preventing the fan from turning. Good luck!

2003 lincoln ls cooling fan quit working car heats up when stopped?

You did not specify a model so I can only tell you in a general sense that there could have been failure of the fuse(s) that supply power to the engine cooling fan motor (assembly), failure of the motor or microprocessor, failure of the PCM, or failure of the cylinder head temperature sensor.

Dear, you have to replace the cooling fan assembly, which is connected to the engine. The problem is, the fan doesn't rotates fast accordingly as the engine heats up.

Engine heats when stopped and idling , cools off when car is moving . Electric fan is blowing properly I think.

the problem sounds like it could be the fan isn't working you need to check, let the engine idle until it starts to overheat & check if the fan is working......hope this helps......cheers

COOLING FAN WILL NOT COME ON CAR OVER HEATS

I would check that the fan is good. Check the multi-relay under the black plastic cover over the radiator, also I'd check the cooling fan switch.

Heats up when stopped and cools down when running

Almost certainly a problem with the radiator cooling fan. When the car is stationary only the fan forces air through the radiator to cool the coolant. When on the move the car pushes air through the radiator. Next time is gets warm put the interior heating on to full blast. It will be uncomfortably hot but it will help take heat from the coolant. Check out that fan operation

I have a 97 cadillac deville why does my car over heats? and does one fan suppose to come on?

Change thermostat and use 50/50 coolant mixture only. Add coolant with car running. Fill up radiator, let everything go into engine, then add more until it is completely full. Fans only come on when car is idle for a period of time while stopped.

1996 HONDA ACCORD RUNNING HOT WHEN STOPPED AT REDLIGHTS

Check that your Radiator fan is operating. The reason that it heats up when stopped is that there is no air flow thru the radiator. When the car is moving there is air flowing thru the radiator (the car is basically cutting thru the air).

What is the fan or vacuum called that's located in the very front left area under the hood?

Mine did the same. I eventually found the problem to be the secondary fan, which heats up the intake air when the car is cold to make it start up better. there is a switch/solenoid attached to the fan unit that goes bad and needs to be changed.
