Be certain 'anti-theft valve in center of filler is opening, tip of gas nozzle should open it.some filler neck configurations require gas to be dispensed at low[slowest] setting on gas pump 'trigger'.

Sounds like an air/vacum lock.

Did u run next to empty recently or a consecutive # of times.?

This happens alot with newer cars than get run to almost empty.

Usually it will cause the nozzle trigger to click over and over again, but just by putting in as much gas as it will allow you to again and again causes the condition to eventually disappear.

Fuel injection systems run under a fair bit pressure and there is a switch that disable this pressure to allow work on the fuel system to be performed as necessary.

My thinking is that in this case if the problem persists, that you if you feel qualified and competent, find the switch via your manual, release the pressure and then reactivate the switch.

That..should make the problem go away.

Good luck.

This is caused by a kinked/blocked gas tank fill venting tube, you will need to replace the filler neck assembly, the vent and filler are all one piece.

Have a 2004 mustang. I can only only put a few cents at a time when trying to put gas before it spits back out

Sounds like vent tube is not operating probably. When gas goes in air in tank needs to go out. When air can't escape its keeping gas pushing up and kicking pump off.

When i put gas in my 1997 chrysler cirrus it spits the gas back like the gas tnk is full.but it is not

There should be a vent line from the tank to the top of the fill tube. If the vent is blocked or kinked, it will act exactly as you describe.

Gas doesn't go into tank easily - wants to spit back out. pump keeps clicking off and it takes a long time to put gas in tank. what could problem be? car is a 2000 camry

theres a one way valve in the filler neck of the gas tank and that is spring loaded. it maybe getting jammed up. will need to remove filler necvk and check it's operation. pretty much only thing down there that it could be.

I have a 2000 mustang and my fuel guage works fine. But 7 gallons fills it up from empty. As I drive the guage travels from full to empty just like it should. I do not have any dents in my tank.

I do not think you have any dents in your tank, nor do I think its empty when the guage indicates that it is.

It is more then likely a fuel level sending unit which is located inside of the tank. They are not fun to replace, empty the gas, drop the tank, and then replace the sensor.

Filling up gas it shuts the pump off immediately

If your vent tube isn't plugged, try turning the pump handle upside down. I have to do that with my mustang all the time. Ford has had gas filler problems for decades now.

2000 Camry Gas tank spits gas out 2-3 times before taking it

there is a vent pipe that runs along side the fill pipe, this allows the air to vent out of the tank as u fill, check it for obstrutions or a kink, u will need to remove it to check this out.
