Theres a vacuum line that plugs into the front of the tranny.. open hood and lood down on right side opening between the radiator and the tranny.. theres a solinod valve there with a vaccuum line hooked on it!! you should be able to see it! if thats connected follow vacuum line to the other end and make sure thats connected to.. i also think theres another vaccuum line that hooks up under car on drivers side lay right next to drivers door and look and the side of your tranny for wires or vacuum hooses unhooked! richie

I have a 95 silverado c1500 with 4l60e trans and it wont go into overdrive

overdrive is the fourth gear.D1,D2,D3,D4 now drive truck at 80 kmh
cruise at steady speed no fuel pedal movement, downshift from D4 to D3 you should feel RPM raise .. after push brake pedal a little you should see RPM raise 300 to 400 rpm.
shift pattern is 1st gear ,second gear,3rd gear and lock up(torque converter clutch). 4th gear with lock up
hope it helps

Changed trans fluid in 2002 chevy blazer and now it wont shift into overdrive properly without hesitation

If it had lots of miles on the trans fluid befor you changed it that fluids additives broke down long ago and wore out most of the fiber material in your trans,,its a problem with alot of gm makes ,unfortunatly you now need to rebuild at least a portion of the trans

I have an 1988 f-350 diesel with an auto the trans is new but wont shift into overdrive, first and second and third shift really firm but just wont go in fourth

Its NEW? take it to whoever you got it from. The problem may not be IN the trans, but a trans shop need to check it out to see why its not going into overdrive.

2001,transmission was replaced, instead of installing overdrive sensor it was wired direct. now check engine light comes on wont engage overdrive orhigh gear

Okey, what joker did that, and you allowed it?
Don't tell me you installed a used trans.
I used to own a trans shop, spare me that story
Now you ride without OD, until you overheat and burn up the new trans.
Now you can not pass inspection, ever, with MIL Lamp on

1991 toyota p/u auto trans wont shift to overdrive

The trans in your truck had some problems in that era with overdrive. You will need ot check a few things to be sure it is not internal. The overdrive would often fail in those units due to the o rings used instead of lip seals.

Check the temp sensor. If it is bad the trans will not go into od. A defective solenoid in the trans for overdrive could cause it not to go in.

Check the fluid, if it is black, you may have burnt the clutches. I have know people who have driven the toyo's for years with no od. It is the same as the old three speed auto.

Hope this helps
