Brake lights do not work on a 2000 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT. Bulbs are new ...

If you dont have any brake lights at all, I would assume it is not the lights themselves, but the brake light accuator on your brake pedal. It controlls when the lights come on and go off by how far the brake pedal is depressed. You can find it connected to the metal bracket that is your brake pedal,and replace it relatively cheap and easily.

Brake lights out on jeep

This may sound too simple, but it's the same with low beam headlights, until they both burn out you didn't know you had any problems. The cops are usually good for helping us keep track of this. Try two new bulbs.All three bulbs are on the same fused circuit so that eliminates that problem. Let me know how this turns out, Dana

Right tail light went out.

I have had the same issue recently. I have a 2002 Gr Cherokee Ltd 4.7L. At first I thought it was the bulb, replaced the bulb to no avail. Then I thought maybe the bulb was rattled loose due to my subwoofer, but that still was not the case. After testing all my fuses I decided to test all of my lights. The hazards worked, back up lights came on, tail and brake lights were all working also but for some reason the blinkers will go out and the right rear brake light will not come on. It always comes back on for me though, so now I just use hand signals when it is temporarily not working. My only suggestion is a problem in the wiring.

Brake lights

Hi,

Usual suspects would be:
1. bulbs;
2. brake light switch;
3. rear harness connector;
4. loose grounding of rear lights assembly.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
