Take/Tow your vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership and pay the diagnostic fee... they will tell you exactly what the problem is and the cost of parts/labor to fix it... at least this way you'll know what the problem is and what's required to fix it.

TIMER BELT BREAKING

I am assuming you mean timing belt as these cars did not come stock with timer belts. You need to get a timing belt and fix it. Just hope that when the belt broke you did not bend any valves as that will be costly to fix.

Labor costs

timing belt slip don't drive the car get it fixed. you may be lucky and it may have just damaged the tappet topper. but you need to get the timing belt check. timing adjuster does this when it fails... you will need a new belt and adjuster.... and you not put the model number up so you could need a water pump as well as some models are on the timing belt side.

Cat converters are not cheap, if your exhaust can be fixed for 450 you are doing good. A timing belt at 600 is normal. The fact the mechanic didn't find an exhaust leak is here nor there. You now need it fixed to pass an inspection.

A 1994 toyota camry needs timing set how much will it cost

The question is a bit vague as the timing is controlled by a computer. If you have a 4 cylinder engine and have over 60,000 miles what you need to do is have the timing belt replaced. This casts between $300 and $400 in my area but I use independent shops, not the dealer.

If this timing belt is worn or breaks it will, not might, cause severe damage to the valves. The fix then is a new cylinder head and costs much more than a timing belt.

Fixing broken timing belt

it will most likely cost you a lot of money you must remove the engine mount on the left side of the engine also all the plastic guards. it is also a good idea to replace the water pump and the belt tensioners at this time. it is also very important to check the valve condition at this time if you had a timing belt actually break because it could have bent a valve. It takes a long time to do i did one and it took me at least five hours.

Timing belt/waterpump

usually a good time to change it is at about 100,000 miles. change it before it becomes a must or not ride(type of thing). if your water pump is run by your timing belt, then yes you should change the water pump when you do the timing belt. the tension from the new belt will sooner than later kill the bearing in the old water pump and it will cost you twice to fix it versus the one time fix. when you go in to the shop there should be no additional cost to replace the timing belt because it has to come off to replace the water pump.
