No way. You are under warranty. Look in your owners paperwork and find the number for Customer Relations and tell the Relations people what the dealer said.

You should be scheduled with a Zone Rep or directed to another nearby dealer for repair. Bad service can not be addressed unless it gets reported to the proper people. The Engineering people need to see parts like yours to know they have a problem.

Ford is very serious about eliminating defects. Please report this.

Why does engine rattle a lot

It is not the valves rattling but a case of detonation. Very bad for an engine as it will blow holes in the top of the pistons. Normally caused by incorrect octane rated fuel.--- ignition timing too far advanced hot spots in the combustion chambers --- not shifting gears soon enough. If you are running an e- mix fuel-- don't--have someone check the timing or have the fault codes read

2003 trailblazer shift cable broke loose, now tranny is in nuetral but shifter is stuck in park position, thus i now am unable place end of shift cable back on because it dosent line up! please help!

Ok, here is what you do, slide under vehicle, locate shift lever on side of transmission rotate counter-clockwise two clicks, pop shifter on, hop back inside turn key on depress brake pedal and check shifter, if it falls off again replace cable assembly they do not sell individual bushings, and get cable from dealer.

2003 Kia Spectra odd rattle in shifter

You are most likely hearing metal on metal on the brake pads. The brakes are not attached to the gear shift in any way. Unless those Koreans have done some really wierd design.

Rattling noise between 1000-2000 rev....

Its a dealer fix problem. Its under warranty take it back and tell them to fix it. If they cant hear this noise then ask to have a tech. ride with you and when u hear it point it out to the tech.

Transmission problem stuck in sport shift mode

I also have a 2009 Outlander Sportronic transmission with a V6 engine.
Bought it this summer ... transmission appeared fine but seemed to automatically slow down the vehicle using the engines compression whenever I let go of the gas pedal.
Now that the cold weather is upon us here in Canada, whenever I accelarate normally (not like a teenager) the transmission takes quite a bit of time to shift into second... If I rev up the engine (quick take off) it seems to help but the shifting of gears is not as smooth as I would expect it (mildly slips and kicks into second)...

The worst is when come to a complete stop ... then the transmission kicks coming down from the higher gears???

I read somewhere that this is because this transmission is a CVT type and is learning my driving habits in order to adjust itself so the vehicle becomes more fuel efficient... Not sure but if the trany is computer controlled then it must be poorly writen program...
I'm taking the car in to the dealer and will write back on the diagnostic they give me ...

Have a 2001 beetle 1.8 turbo. Lately at low speed

I have been having a similar problem (2001 1.8-TDI Beetle). The rattling sounds almost like wind buffeting the car/whistling, and increases in intensity as each gear revs higher (it gets quieter after a shift, and then builds again). at its loudest (before a shift), there's an additional rattle similar to tin cans in a paper bag being shaken (it's faint, but it's there). I just had the oil changed and the car looked over... not sure what could be the problem, but would like to have even a vague idea before I take it in. Any thoughts? Thanks!
