I do not know what they are called,.. Anyway, the ones that was sent to our Parts store, did not have the flanges, or whatever they are called... they were more of a tear drop shape and rounded ends... and the auto guy said that was the only ones showing for 2006 jjag.... 2008 S-Type Jag with 19,000 miles. Dealer wants $695 to put on new rear brakes and rotors. Is this reasonable?

Do it yourself

Have you never paid $695 for brake
work before?

Why are you at a dealer?

What about a repair shop down the street

That would be about $300 for the same work

Jaguar x type bluetooth

If your car has the Bluetooth phone option fitted (most models with the touch screen 2006 onwards do) You may get the message SIG instead of Phone connected.

Please see http://www.blujag.co.uk for detailed bluetooth instructions.

Are the rear discs on a 2002 s type grooved or flat

They are flat - if you have large groves the pads have been allowed to wear down too far and have scored the disc's. When your brakes start making a grinding noise they need replacing as the jag uses metal flags on the pads to make a noise and warn you they are at minimum thickness. Hope this helps - good luck.

Excessive wear on 1997 s type jags rear brakes

Unfortunatly this is normal, nothing can be done about it. Get pads checked every 15,000 miles to save discs.

Brake pads worn, making audible noise.

No but you need someone that can do a COMPLETE brake job. This means the rotors should be turned or machined to take out warps. You will hear all kinds of suggestions as to brake pads but I use a non-JAG pad but not ceramic. While ceramics have better stopping power they will also warp the disk faster and so you will not have as long lasting brake job

Electric parking brake shows warning when operated

when you replaced the pads did you make sure that the sliders were free if they are partially siezed it gives the the signal to the parkbrake module that the movement is excesive , but also at your model/year there was a prob with the parkbrake motor going bad or the wiring to it chaffed on the rear subframe try to get the fault codes out of the parkbrake module using a obd2 code reader that may have the clue to recalibrate the parkbrake disconnect the battery for 10 mins reconnect apply footbrake with ign. on and work parkbrake on/off 3or4 times
