The drain is located ojn the oil pan under the carm the pan is the bottom most part of the engine, as far as oil goes 5W-20 or 5W-30 will do, no need to use very expensive synthetic, but it does extend the life of the engine, so if you plan to own the car past 100,000 miles use it..

You can access free repair manuals online @ google ebooks and autozone.com Manufacturer calls for 5w20 but depending on the climate 5w30 will work fine. Synthetic does give you better heat protection and longer change intervals.

The oil drain plug is located at the bottom of the oil pan and just use a good 5-20 oil doesn't really have to be synthetic I use Kendall oil but you can use like mobil1 or castrol as long as it is 5-20

WHAT IS THE BEST OIL TO USED

I like the synthetic blends. Valvoline is good in any type, I like Castroil GTX as a normal non synthetic oil. The oils have a Code which you would need to look up to be well informed.

The better oils do the job by exceeding many categories of the Codes. The cheaper oils usually do the minimum job meeting one or two Codes and the Codes are kinda wimpy. The better oils will hold up in severe conditions.

While every Mechanic has preferences, the oils with any synthetic ingredients seem to be better at keeping the thickness they claim to represent.

Oil change

Are you asking for the best brand, weight, or synthetic or convential.
Quacker State is good. 5W30 is good for fuel efficiency. You are better off using conventional motor oil over synthetic if you have not been using synthetic.

What type oil does a 2002 ford escape 6 cylinder use? thanks!

This specification has been updated from 5W-30 to include
5W-20 per a Technical Service Bulletin from the
manufacturer. 5W-20 is the preferred recommendation.

If you are using synthetic oil, keep using synthetic.....same as above in synthetic form.

Whats is the best oil to use for usage and miles out of a ford exp 2004 for the bang of the buck!

hands down synthetic oil is the best no contest versus conventional oil. i myself being a technician only use mobil 1 but you can also go with pennzoil or valvoline synthetic. castrol synthetic is ok but does not seem as good as the others and i have tried tried them all.

What maintenace Does a 2003 Toy Rav4 manual transmission need?

The manual transmission oil, or gear box oil can't last forever. It is a good idea to replace every 60K miles with a new one. Just as with motor oil, and oil change is cheap insurance. Buy synthetic oil if you can.
The manual transmission oil change is a simple procedure, but can complicated and creates costly problems.
First remove the filling bolt. In some cases this is siezed, If the heating doesn't help, you don't want a stripped filler bolt, with an empty transmission. Use WD-40 and do not use extensive force.
If the bolt still won't budge. Stop. Lower the car and visit a shop for service.
After removing the filler bolt (upper), then remove the drain bolt at the bottom.
Replace the drain bolt, with a new one, normally has a magnet, and thread it by hand after with a wrench.
Fill the gearbox with oil using a gear oil / lube pump. Replace the filling bolt and process same as with draining bolt.
If you will change the gear box oil every 60K miles this is the best insurance for your manual transmission. DO NOT FORGET TO REPLACE FILLING AND DRAINING BOLTS WITH NEW ONE.
In rare cases a rusty bolt is siezed, almost rust welded in the transmission housing, so the transmission must be removed and taken to a machine shop.

How do i change the engine oil of my 2002 ford escape? what tools and procedures do i need to follow? thanks

you need to have oil drain pan and a oil filter and oil filter wrench from any discount auto store. Is best to invest in one as Im assumed you going to change your own oil in the future. its fairly easy..no task at all. you will need to get the truck up in the air a bit so you can get under and get to the oil drain bolt. another items is good to investment is a car ramp cost about 30 to 40 bucks you can drive that car right up it and have plenty of room under. Don't get mix up with transmission plug and oil plug. Once you get underneath of it you would be able to tell and see one big bolt located on the bottom of the pan. Get a set of wrench I prefer a rachet so you don't round the oil pan bolt. Counter clock wise to remove the bolt. Look at your owner manuel book to see what proper grade of oil to use and the amount and make sure do not over fill it; overfill it can blow a gasket and seals, keep checking the dip stick. Most places offer 19.95 to 29.95 oil change and its not even worth doing it yourself even though they don't use the best quality of oil. Oil filter run around $8.00 and 6 quarts of oil $2.50 each come to $ 23.00 bucks saving $6 bucks for labor is not worth it. for me I would pay anyone $6 bucks to change my oil any day. I hope that help some ..good luck!
