After the car is on a lift, you can loosen the rear bolts andtake out the front bolts and replace the front bushings, then tighten the front bolts then do the rears. its a job you really should not attempt on the ground

How do I replace the subframe

by sub frame I`m guessing you mean the frame under the engine & transmission. if so you have to support the engine/trans with an engine brace and disconnect every thing that is attached to the sub frame then unbolt the frame bolts and lower the sub frame. note this is heavy weight so make sure you have help and something to support the frame when doing this.

Is there a rear subframe in a 94 DeVille?

no sub frame only cause there is no rear end on a front wheel drive car... all control arms attach to the body of the car and can be replaced if you ant to deal with the rust involved if it rotted off in the first place...

Lower ball joint 2002 hyundi santa fe

Typically these are replaced with a complete lower control arm. What happens is the ball joint is reseeding the lower control arm and rusts. When the old ones pressed out it distorts the opening in the lower control arm. When the new one is pressed in they never fit tight. Anew lower control arm is very easy to replace. 1. Jack up the vehicle on the sub frame or pinch weld. 2. Remove the pinch bolt that holds the ball joint to the knuckle. 3. Separate the ball joint from the knuckle. 4. Remove the two bolts that secure the horizontal bushing to the sub frame. 5. Remove the single bolt that secures the vertical bushing from the subframe. 6. Remove the lower control arm. If you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them.

What is a sub frame on a auto

The Subframe is a metal frame like enclosure that surrounds the Engine /Transmission. The Engine/ Trans drops into the Subframe and in turn is bolted to it via Engine Mounts and the Subframe is in turn bolted to the uni-body of your car via Subframe Mounts.

My mechanic told me that the bushings that hold up the subframe are showing signs of cracking. He said that since the steering column is attached I would lose control if the bushings broke. Is it possible...

It is highly unlikely that the bushings will fail. They do tend to crack alittle, but the bolts will still hold the subframe on. Now if they are rusted out, this is a possibility. You do have 4 bushings holding the subframe on also. 2 at the front, and 2 at the back.

Removing engine

Yes it does. The R&P is attached to the subframe of the car. When you undo the rear sub frame bolts be sure to have a jack under both sides of the sub frame to support. The R&P is bolted to the sub frame and so is the engine.
