1996 Saab 900 SE, Can't read computer codes

I can't read the codes with a code reader. When I connect the reader, it says its connected but won't read the computer. The car is hesitating in the higher rpms. It will surge into a power band in the transition from normal power to higher power when accelerating. The check engine light is not on but I think i should be. Is my computer on the car messed up?

You'll need a euro capable scanner to pull codes. Most code readers are not compatable with european software.

I have a 1996 Saab 900 convertible. The check

Take the vehicle to one of the major Auto parts stores and ask then to connect their scanner to your vehicle and identify the fault code that is stored. That will tell you where to look and what has faulted. Once you get the code you can get the new part there at the store and a Haynes Repair manual on your vehicle to do the repair yourself.

I have a saab 900 se 1998 and i had to have the battery changed which meant i had to put a code in on the stereo . BUT i put the wrong code in ,and now my stereo wont work.

I know someone who had same issue and they said to press and hold the 'band' button until 'enter code' appears. As to knowing the code to enter, I've heard of people paying for the code and others who got the code for free from their dealer.
