2003 Ford Ranger Fuel filter replacement. I cannot get the clips off the fuel lines and do not want to brake them.

Have a Haynes manual and it is incorrect for the 203 model xlt. You may be right with you explanation for another model, but this is not what I found with mine. The 2003 XLT regular cab 6cyl 3.0l actually has 2 lines with an orange clip and one with a green. If you take a pair of needle nose pliers and squeeze the curved (part showing) then you are able to slide the lines off the filter. The article I read was actually listed as a 2003 4cyl, but the same process worked. Thanks anyway!

The high pressure fuel line clips are tricky you must use a small straight slot screwdriver to pry the hidden flange tab out and away, you should be able to pry it gentle from the side in order to slide the U type clip out and away from its seat. It is difficult for me to show you with out an illustration so I can only verbal descibe the best I can to you . You may want to purchase a Haynse repair manual which has illustrations showing how.

Fuel filter replacement

need instructions for fuel filter replacement? 1st you'll need to loosen the gas cap to releive the pressure from the gas tank. the fuel filter is located on the frame under your drivers side door. you may need to jack the truck up, if so make sure to use jackstands under the truck for your safety!!follow the fuel line to the filter, a round cylider type canister. use safety glasses, just in case the fuel leaks, for your eye safety,i recommend that!! there will be a plastic retaining clip on both sides of the fuel filter, you'll need a pair of needle nose pliers to remove those, one at a time, the filter will have fuel still in it so be careful as not to spill it into or onto yourself. after you reve each clip the filter can be removed by pulling gently on each fuel line. replace ment is the same way, just make sure the fuel lines are connected properly, the filter will be marked with an arrow showing fuel flow the arrow on filter should point towards the engine, make sure both fuel lines are pushed in, and plastic clips snap into place, when you start truck, make visual check for leaks!! if leaking, the plastic clips are'nt properly installed. thank you for choosing fixya.com and as always, if you need further assistance please post your question and we will be happy to assist you.

How do i change fuel filter on 1987 ford ranger 2.9 liter

look under truck at drivers side door for the fuel lines. they will go into filter there and back out of filter there.you're looking for a round canister, you'll need to release the pressure by removing the gas acp also.there will be a plastic clip on both sides of the filter holding the fuel lines into the filter. pull those clips out with needle nose pliers, install the filter with the flow towards the front of motor, reinstall those clips unless new ones came with the new filter.keep in mind that you are under the truck looking up at filter, eye protection is a must!!!! hope this helps!!

clean the quick disconnects with brake or choke cleen. there should be a white or green plastic button clip on the disconnect u have to squeeze the green or white rectangle button in to get it to release, the other style has a door u flip open with a small screw driver the push the the plastic catch out the back side of the quick disonnect. (they should call them quick dont disconnect ha ha )

1992 Ford Ranger fuel filter replacement. Where is the fuel filter located?

Inside the frame rail on the driver's side. You'll need a 5/16" (8mm) socket if it is the type that is held in with a hose clamp, or a 10mm if it is the bracket type. Some of the lines are held in with white plastic clips, others by special springs. If it is the type without clips, you'll need a special tool to release them. Also, if it is the type without the plastic clips, make sure they gave you the right filter. If the new filter is shorter than the old DO NOT PUT IT ON. If you do, you will have to cut it off next time you have to change it as the tool will not fit in. The two filters look the same except the tubes are longer on the non-clip filter.

Name of toll to release the fuel filter lines?

ford has several different sizes for full size, not sure about rangers though. They are called fuel line tools though. Did you blow air through the connecters to remove all dirt? How about removing the metal clips that are there as a saftey measure? Those clips looke like a weird J shape that helps prevent accidental disconection.

You can just feed a new line over the tank and try to clip it onto the existing one. Best of luck, hope the job goes ok.

Hesitation after switching frm non detergent fuel to a detergent

the fuel filter is on the inside of the frame rail just aft of the driver under the truck. You may need a little spring clip release tool to get the lines off the filter, any parts store like NAPA or Autozone should have the tool, very cheap, about $6 US
