Car stops in the middle. It drains out battery after driving 10 miles or so. I got battery charged and test came out good. And I see 15.4volts coming from alternator while engine is running. What could be the problem? Bad battery/wiring/alternator or something else. Please help. Car is mazda 626 1994 model.

Need to have your charging system checked, output voltage can be okay but your amp output is probably low, that or a bad battery is the only thing that will cause your battery drain while driving

Connect an ammeter in line between generator terminal B. connector and terminal B. of wiring Harness connector. See figure 1 and figure 2. Turn headlights and all accessories on. Press brake pedal. Operating engine at 2500 to 3000 RPM. If amperage is not about 5 amps or more, repair or replace generator as necessary.

If amperage is about 5 amps or more, measure voltage between ground and terminals S. and L while operating engine at 2500 to 3000 RPM. If 14.1 through 14.7 volts is present, generator output is okay.

Check the voltage regulator if there's coming out of it.
you may have a good alternator but if nothing goes at
the alternator, then, it results to a drained battery. Just
replace your regulator, if this is not working.

    1. Your battery is still good, can't be bad.
    2. You must use a multi tester. Set it at 25 DC volts
    3. Go to the fusebox at your car. With the engine running. Check
the voltage. Negative probe of the multi tester must touch the
body of the car. Positive probe must touch the fuse terminal.
The voltage must be within 12 to 14 DC volts. Otherwise,
replace the regulator, and do the same test. Get this done, and
    e-mail to us the result.

Battery light followed by total failure on freeway. Autozone tested altenator and replaced battery earlier that day.

change alternator and maybe battery. Since the battery is pretty new, draining it like you say only took a year or two off its lifespan. Remember how your car acted this time, as most newer cars do the same exact thing when the charging system or battery needs service. In the future, you will recognize the symptom and know where to look before you get stranded.

New battery but will hold charge for a month, without warming it will not start

Have you checked the alternator to make sure it is charging the battery and also for voltage drains when the car is off ?
You would need to drive the car a few miles each week to keep the battery up. Otherwise if the car sits for several days and is driven only a mile or two, you may need to use a booster battery charger.

Why does 2003 windstar shut down electrically

Before replacing alternator testing should be done , is there B+ voltage at the heavier gage wire on the back of the alternator . Could have a blown fuse or fusible link . Your vehicle from what you have posted , isn't charging . Plus there is a regular fuse located in the under hood fuse box F1.13 - 10 amp this supply's B+ voltage to the orange with lit blue stripe wire at the three wire connector plugged into the alternator . The other two wires come from the PCM - engine computer . This charging system is computer controlled . Ford PCM controlled alternator testing

It sounds like the alternator is going bad. I reccommend pulling the alternator and having it checked out, most auto stores do this as a free service. There could also be another problem on the rpm thing but I would start with alternator and inspect all other pulleys that the belt rides with. Good luck.

Brake light and battery light come on as I'm driving down the road

This is common on this nissan when the alternator goes bad it will turn on these lights and sometimes even more dash lights will come on, check and make sure the belt is on the alternator and didnt come off next check the battery connections and the connections at alternator. have the charging system tested, this is a quick test and will test the battery and alternator and starter, you will see that the alternator is not charging good and need to be replaced, take note that when the battery drains down the car will stop running and you will be stuck out on the road, it sounds like its on its way out , good luck, hope this is helpful.

did you have the alternator tested on the car? the alternator may be good but the wiring to it may have a fault, have some one do a charging test on the car, if it still shows that the it is charging have them do an AC current test it could be that the diode is out in the alternator which would cause the light to come on and also the battery to drain when the engine is off. If it is not charging on the car suspect the plug end on the alternator ( we see them fail alot ). there is also a charge fuse might check it. The charging is controlled by the BCM ( body control module). If no charge and plug and wiring are good , fuse is good , suspect BCM......GOOD LUCK

Charging stystem seems to be working..... But when ever the miss's gets inthe car to go to work, she will get 10 miles and the battery light will start flashing, then get solid and she will lose the head...

When this happens, are the gauges dropping or not working properly or at all? Check the alternator. May not be charging so everything is running off the battery. The battery is used mostly for starting, but the alternator recharges the battery, so if after driving for a short while, and alternator not charging, everything electrical will drain the battery. You can sometimes drive the car for a while when this happens, or if the alternator goes out completely, the car will not run at all.

Battery keeps draining

if your battery died while driving and the car cut off while your driving,, your problem is from your alternator!!!,, on a normal working car, you can start, remove ther battery terminals and the car would still run cause the alternator will be powering the car. In your case the alternator isnt working and the car was working on battery power therefore when the battery went dead the car cut off.. Your alternator need \s to be charging between 13.5 and 14.2 volts.. as little as 10 volts will keep the vehicle running.. I'd suggest you have the alternator replaced.

Car goes dead

Looks like you are having a battery problem, your battery is weak and not able to hold the cars charge. When u let the car sit the battery will lightly charge itself but once you turn it on and drive it begins to drive, the cars accesories will drain out the battery and the alternator will do its job by charging but the battery is just too weak or it could be the alternator not putting out enough amperage to charge the battery sufficiently, the alternator could be seizing on you when u are driving, stopping and rotating off and on, if thats the case then your car will shut off. I would do a load test on your battery then if that checks out ok then go for the alternator. The load testing tool can be purchased at any AutoZone or Lappens, Pep Boys etc..

Good luck..
