Hello! There is a self-diagnostic program that you can initiate by following the steps below. If you retrieve the code(s), you can go to this site, register for a free account and retrieve a full listing of all fault codes and the descriptions from that link.

Here is how to initiate the diagnostics:

1. Ignition ON, Engine OFF.

2. Push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds and then release.

3. Write down all the letter/number combinations EXACTLY as they appear on the screen.

4. When you see PCM? push the HI button until you see PCM DATA?.

5. Now push the LO button until you see PCM INPUTS and then push the LO button again.

6. Now you will see PCM INPUTS? push the LO button.

7. Now you will see PCM OUTPUTS? push the LO button.

8. Now you will see PCM OVERIDES? push the LO button.

9. Now you will see PCM CLEAR CODES? push the HI button for about 3 seconds.

10. Now push the AUTO button.

11. Turn ignition off for 15 seconds and that will complete the process of retrieving and then clearing any current and history codes.

Hope this helps and thanks for using FixYa!

2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ESP BAS WARNING LIGHT ON

The BAS/ESP lights pertain to your brake assist and electronic stability systems. One of the more common problems we find is a faulty stop light switch or a steering angle sensor. It would be a good idea to have the fault codes read. The codes would give you a pretty good idea as to what is going on. You could try to initialize the steering angle sensor first. This is normally needed after a dead or weak battery condition. To do this you'll need to start the car and then turn the wheel slowly all the way to the left, pause and then turn slowly all the way to the right, pause and return to center. You may need to do it a couple of times to initialize the sensor. The stop light switches are inexpensive ($20.00) and easily replaced. They're located under the dash at the brake pedal. When you get your new switch you'll see a little release tab on it. You just depress the tab and rotate the switch 90° to remove it. Of course you may have other problems. Reading the fault codes would be the best place to start. Good luck

1998 Oldsmobile Aurora Lighting problem-car parked, ignition off, doors locked, unattended, weather normal.parking lights will come on and stay on,by themselves, other times they come and flicker and turn...

sounds like there is a short somewhere. you need to start checking things with a multi meter, could be a bad switch. I would recommend picking up a factory service manual for your vehicle off of ebay. If you need any further assistance let me know.
Thanks,

Esp warning light and bas on

Hi there:
The BAS/ESP lights pertain to your brake assist and electronic stability systems. One of the more common problems we find is a faulty stop light switch or a steering angle sensor. It would be a good idea to have the fault codes read. The codes would give you a pretty good idea as to what is going on. You could try to initialize the steering angle sensor first. Before to replace some parts, I suggest scaned the computer car in order to know other fault codes stored.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day

So, recently i wrecked my car. Well, i rear ended someone. I didnt hit them hard enough to do anything other then blow out my headlight and crumple some of the front driver side. The engine will turn over...

The switch you speak of , as far as I remember was for accidents where cars rollover. This was to prevent fire. I believe in your case because of the area ,side front of car, your problem lies with your crankshaft sensor. Sometimes all it takes is a jolt and these sensors give up there life. This sensor on your car is located on the front left side of your engine, in the immediate area of your accident.
If you can , try to get some body to pull up the codes from your computer. These codes will tell you what the problem is with your car. Please let me know how you make out. GOOD LUCK.

Tyre pressure warning light showing when pressures are correct

Hi, the tire pressure monitor detects any changes in the tire inflation pressure. Therefore, it must initialize and store it in its memory if the tires or wheels have been replaced, re-inflated or the tires have been rotated. You can re-initialize the system by following these steps:

1. Check and make sure that your tires are inflated to the correct pressure

2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. If the low tire pressure warning light comes on, push and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch (in the glove box) until the warning light turns off and then release the switch.

3. Now press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch until the low tire pressure warning light blinks three times.

4. Initialization is *not* completed until driving at the vehicle speed of 19 mph or over for more than one hour. the tire pressure monitoring starts when initialization is completed.

If the 4wd switch loses power could it be the switch itself because I already changed the fuse and scanned the engine and no codes showed up

IF THERE IS NO-POWER TO SWITCH..... THAN A SCANNER WOULD GIVE A CODE...IT MONITORS THE SWITCH AND ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS DID YOU HAVE SOMEONE SCAN IT OR USE A CODE READER. THEY ARE DIFFERENT

Changed right front tire now reads zero on dash light is on

Your tire pressure monitor needs to be reset whenever you change or rotate your tires...

1. check and make sure that your tires are inflated to the correct pressure

2. turn the ignition switch to the ON position. If the low tire pressure warning light comes on, push and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch (think the switch is in the glovebox, but not sure) until the warning light turns off and then release the switch.

3. now press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch until the low tire pressure warning light blinks three times.

4. initialization is *not* completed until driving at the vehicle speed of 19 mph or over for more than one hour. the tire pressure monitoring starts when initialization is completed.
