Question about 2004 Ford Focus

Turn Signal Lever 2004 Ford Focus LX

My high beam headlights are stuck in the on position. If I pull the high/low switch, they just stay on high beam, and the blue high beam indicator light always stays on. I have replaced the relays and the bulbs. I assume that the lever itself is bad. If I replace the lever (the one that controls the high/low beams and the turn signals), will this fix the problem? Also, is it just the lever, or is it something WITHIN the steering column? I priced the lever itself and it's $35. Does this sound right?

$35 sounds right for the lever. It definitely sounds like it's your lever acting up as the contact seems to be stuck

Ford 2003 Focus. Low beam headlights not working. Hi beam do. Can get low beam to come on if flip between hi and low but don't stay on.

That sounds like a problem with the high beam switch in the low beam position. The contact is bad or the detent retainer isn't keeping the contact engaged.

It sounds like you are confused about how your headlamp system is supposed to work. The DRL does not run on the High beam circuit, it runs on the low beam circuit. The fog lamps are supposed operate with the park lamps and also with the low beams, not the high beams. From your description, I would say that your system is operating as designed and you are having trouble telling High from Low. (Don't feel bad, that is why high beam indicators were invented in the first place.)

How to replace high/low beam switch on 2004 Ford Focus LX?

Should be fairly easy. Make sure to disconnect the positive battery cable. Remove the cover from around the column behind the steering wheel. Should take a star driver to remove the screws holding the cover together. Once the screws are removed pop the cover apart and you will see the multifunction switch on the column, should have two to three screws holding it to the column remove the screws and it should come out pretty easy replace with new one and put back together.

Push the lever forward to turn on high beams, if they do not work when you do this. You need a new high/low beam switch.

The headlights are stuck on high beam.

pull on the signal lever toward you (ceter position). the signal lever controls the head lights either high beam or low beam. if you pull on the signal lever toward you again, you will have high beam temporarily. and if you push the signal lever towards the front, you will have the high beam locked.
