Question about 2000 BMW 3 Series
Hi guys, My Manual 320i E46(132km) suddenly lost reverse selection! All forward gears perfect, stick moves across fine just wont drop in! no reverse lights. I did have some light underbody scrapes recently, is it possible a wire (solenoid?) could come off?? I hope its simple like that?? Thanks, Ian H
Not likely a shift solenoid in a manual, your the shift solenoid. The reverse and 1st gear are the same so if 1st gear is working properly the mechanical functions should be good. It possible the syncros for reverse are bad as well not allowing the gears to mesh/engage. If the cars rolling slightly forwards/backwards will it engage??
