Is it hard to change spark plugs on 6.8 v10 02 ford excursion? ford dealership wanted $340 to replace the 10 spark plugs...

you didn't say if you have the straight 6 or v 6.But i'll give the order for both.
The 4.9L straight 6 is 1-5-3-6-2-4----------- distributor rotor turning clockwise, and #1 plug is the first plug.
On the 3.0 and 4.2 V6 engines is 1-4-2-5-3-6-------#1 plug is the first plug on driver side---- facing engine.

The IAT (Intake Air Temperture) is the sensor that measures the temp of the incoming air to the engine, it is either in the rubber hose to the engine from the air filter housing, or on the air filter housing itself, it is small and round with 2 wires going to it, many times it is left unplugged during routine maintenance.

Hope this helps. The ignition coil:
  • changes low-voltage pulses from the PCM to high-voltage pulses.
  • fires 2 spark plugs simultaneously.
  • has 3 transformers.
    • One transformer fires the spark plugs for cylinders 1 and 5
    • One transformer fires the spark plugs for cylinders 2 and 6
    • One transformer fires the spark plugs for cylinders 3 and 4
Spark plug wires:
  • carry high-voltage pulses from the ignition coil to the spark plugs.
The spark plugs:
  • change high-voltage pulses to spark at the gap, which ignites the fuel and air mixture.
The firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6.

How to change spark plugs in a 2000 Ford Expedition

This is one of the longest repairs I have ever done on just changing spark plugs! A dealership will charge you $200 and up for this job. They take between 2-4 hours labor!

Here is a great guide in AutumnsList forums with great detail to help everyone out. It also has a lot of great tips so you do it right.

I believe it is the same for earlier and later models too. Maybe from 1998 to 2003 models.

How many hours should a shop charge to replace a starter on an Excursion with V-10 gas engine ?

It should not take more than 1 hour. If you are talking about a ford dealership , they have a book that tells them how many hours to charge for each job. If the book says 3 , thats what they charge you , even if it only took 40 min. I did a 2.5 hour job in 30 min once , in my driveway , laying in the dirt.
Avoid dealerships unless it is free warranty work.

when the key is on without starting do you hear a whirring sound from the fuel tank , if no it's a fuel pump or fuel relay. Did you check it for spark from the plugs get back with me

Where is coil pack 3 and 6 located on a 2001ford expedition

follow the spark plug wires up to the coil pack there is only one coil pack for your truck which has all the plug wires going to it.also replace your your plug wires.

My Excursion stopped several times on freeway

If your Excursion has the 7.3L Diesel, what I first suspect is the Ford recalled item Cam Position Sensor (CMP sensor). If your nearby Ford dealership has not replaced it for free for you, then make an appointment and take the car in to have the sensor replaced. How to check for a bad coil and how to replace a coil

Hi, Yes you can replace the coil yourself. I would read any comments that is on ebay about the company that is selling the coil. You can get great deals. By the sounds of it you have coil on plug. Now to fine out which coil is gone you would have to remove one at the time have some one crank the eng and you look for the spark. Before you do this remove the fuel pump fuse. The first thing to do is to fine out if you do have spark. Here is the cyl order and the firing order.

Rear passenger window on 2003 excursion will not roll up , all other windows work fine

You can get the switch module from a Ford Dealership for $111 dollars and it is super easy to replace. No skill required whatsoever.
