Question about 2008 Mercedes-Benz Mercedes Benz C Class

1 Answer

I have a 2008 Merc C220 CDI. When driving in the morning about 10 mins after starting the ignition my car starts smoking quite significantly. This lasts for about 4-5 minutes and then stops. I asked the Merc service guys to check and they said it might be a dirty air filter. This was replaced but the problem persists. Any ideas what might be the cause of this?

02 merc E220 CDi W211, when I turn key in ignition it will blow a 15 amp fuse in the engine compartment maybe 4 out off 10 starts, Tks in advance

Fuse blowing indicates some circuit is drawing too much current. Figure out what that fuse supplies and investigate that circuit.

smoke indicates a weak engine, if it is only at start or beginning few minutes of driving then hopefully it is rings only which is weakened and needs replacement, as per your note it seems only at start and the vibration is it only at cold start and what about if after running a more then 5 miles even you stop the car and start in few second does it still vibrate or no, please let me know

Engine cuts out and wont restart for maybe 20/30 minutes

honestly, I've not seen an alfa romeo here in the philippines but i think you problem is partly electrical and the electronic side of the car. something on your car is heating up so much that it cuts the power to the ignition once it has. it is a possibility that a damaged ignition coil or a faulty computer box(if your car has one) or the control system that regulates the spark distribution system or the injectors(if your car is fuel injected type).
