Electric Windows don't work well (Mercedes C240 1999)

The battery to my car was disconnected and replaced with a new one. Since replacing the car battery, my electric windows don't seem to work very well. I was told by someone that they need to be reprogrammed, which confuses me.
Does anyone know how to reprogram or resolved it some other way.

Thank you for your time in advance.

Just to let you all know that this also worked for me, although I had to try it a few times to get it just right. Overall what a weird system Mercedes have. I ask the question why we have to do this but I suppose it's do with their electronics within the car, but still weird or is this because we have to take it to the Mercedes dealer where they'll charge, ... the buggers.

Hello Tony. Hold the Switch till the window is down. Hold the switch down for 4 seconds afterwards and it will reset. Do this will all the windows and the sunroof.

I had the identical problem to Tony; Justaskjoe's answer worked perfectly, with a slight variation. I held the switch down to drive the window to the fully open position, then held for a further 4 seconds. Then I had to drive the window to the top without letting the switch move to the one-shot position. If it moved to the one-shot, the solution didn't seem to work, and I had to start again. Did this for all the windows - excellent solution, thank you. Ken.

Electric seat goes forward even if i push the switch back

make resetting by removing either it's fuse for a while , or disconnect the battery, but in this case you have to synchronise windows, sunroof, itc.

My 1998 Merc e320 battery went flat. Now seats, front windows, steering does not work. I disconnect the battery and reconnect and all is well for 3 to 5 days then it starts again. Help

probably the battery needs a replacement. why did the battery go flat? alternator may also have been conked off. check alternator belt. also take it to a battery place and have the leads tested for appropriate voltage levels and water levels inside the battery.

Car batterys cant all be faulty?

Disconnect the positive terminal of the battery.
Place a 20 amp meter inline, (poss to battery lead, neg to battery)
And see if you have any more than a few milliamps of drainage for radio memory etc.
Anything like 0.25 amps or more and you have a component on the car that is ON.
Boot light, is it going out? 5w bulb in a 12v circuit = 2.4amps so a 75ah battery = 30 hours to dead flat.
Do you have electric windows? Is one still trying to close as in stuck relay or switch? (Had that on a porker 924) put your ear to the doors and listen for the hum.
Test 2, fully charge battery but leave car with alternator wires disconnected. Still goes flat, it’s on the car, no? It’s the alternator.

Hope that helps, Pete

Sticky windows

Have taken car into a dealer and have been advised that if battery has gone flat, the sensors will need resetting, to do this, disconnect freshly charged or replaced battery for two to three minutes, reconnect, turn key to position two and operate window. Hold button down and wait for click (window open), close window and hold button in close position until you hear the click. This should reset the sensors to open and close positions. Juddering maybe caused by build up of grime in slider, squirt some silicone based lubricant into window slider/guide, this should help. If none of this helps, it could mean that the motors need replacing.
