To start with if engine was blowing blue smoke then the rings needed replacing ,but if not blowing blue the rings dident need doing /uless the top ring had broken and that would have blown oil out of the gaskets and seals /Called crank case compression)
and if no oil leaks then you must have had a seal leak OR burning oil but you must have seen it the blue smoke???The head should not be your problem

I presume you are adding oil (topping up). If you are then you have a series problem with piston ring wear inside engine. Oil is getting past the wiper rings and getting into the combustion chamber and burning with the fuel. Need to rebuild or replace engine.

its just telling you that its working,if it comes on and stays on worry.as with all VW group product, the oil should be checked every 500 miles.as these engines are designed to use some oil.The workshop manual states that 500km per litre is NORMAL.although most use a lot less.

Hi there my C55 use every 1500 Km one liter of oil is this normal

Oil consumption is outside specification, and needs around a litre of oil every 7 500km, not unusual for a race-bred engine. But, if you are only getting 1 litre for only 1500, you might want to change brand of oil, or ensure you are using the right type of oil.......

Oil level drops after 2000 kms

sounds about right,in fact thats good, toyota state that oil burn/usage should be about 1/2 litre to every 1000km and will do nothing until it gets to 1 litre every 500km under warranty......remember that as a cars mileage gets higher 5/30 oil is too thin,go to 10/40, then when 1 litre to 1000km is reached go to 20/50.(toyota cars are filled with 10/40 semi synthetic when new.).

For a 2008 vw Passat, is it normal to burn 2 qrts of oil between changes? 4 cyl 2 0 turbo

VW RECKON that oil usage around 1/2 litre per 500km is acceptable !!!!!!!! yeah right...i suppose it does lubricate the turbo blades....and the exhaust pipe internally....you could use 20/50 instead of 5/40 that would cut it down, but not do much good to the engines long life..... VW reckon about 150,000m before rebuild.

I do not have a manuel could someone tell me how much oil is required when changing a 2.2 engine.

Generally in the 5 to 6 litre (quarts) range. Put in 4 litres and check on dip stick. Add remainder half a litre at a time checking the dip each time. The volume of oil required to be added to go from "MIN" mark on the dip stick to "MAX" is just half a litre.

My car santro xing .purchased one year back. any

Before attempting to start it, unplug and clean any electrical connectors that were under water. change the diff fluid in both diffs, transfer case lube, trans oil and engine oil. Seals on most are canted inward to prevent oil from escaping but aren't really good at keeping water out when submerged. You may not have any water in any of those items, but its far cheaper to do the oil changes than to replace any one of those.

P.S. is there a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust, if so, it may be burning a little oil, ask dealer to check it
