If the light was flashing when it came on, then it means your engine is misfiring.

A solid light can mean anything.

This light comes on when the computer detects a fault of some sort in its diagnostic tests. If it keeps detecting this issue, the light will remain off. If the light turns off, then it has detected that the issue may no longer be present.

In order to find out what the exact reason was for your light, You need to have your car computer scanned to retrieve the code that the computer would have stored when the light triggered. Most garages will do this free of charge. The code will tell you what may have caused the light to initially go

With some cars, when the engine light trips, depending on the cause, it also causes the engine to run at reduced power so as to reduce the potential damage

I have a '99 dodge grand caravan se, while in park the abs light came on, the battery light came on, and the check engine light has been on,

Looks like you have a few issues there.

1. The battery warning. This is indicative of a weak battery and if your battery is 3 years old or more I would replace it.

2. If you have a weak battery this can trigger other warning lights in the vehicle, typically the ABS warning but sometimes other warning lights as well depending on the electronic features in the car. If you replace the battery this should correct the battery warning and most likely the ABS warning if both of these warnings appeared at the same time.
Normally, once the ABS warning is displayed the anti lock braking system(ABS) will be shut down. Whilst your braking will be normal, if you brake too hard and lock up your wheels on a slippery road there is no ABS assist to prevent the brake lock up which you have when the system is working.

3. If the alternator on the engine is not generating sufficient power and thus not charging the battery at all, or very little, you will likely get a battery warning light. I don't know if your 1999 vehicle has a warning light to indicate a faulty alternator or not.

4. Check Engine Light.
You suggested the CE warning has been showing up for a few days and before the battery and ABS warnings popped up.
The CE warning can be caused by dozens of different engine issues.
The vehicle needs to be scanned with the appropriate scan tool to see what fault codes the onboard computer is generating because if you have a CE warning light there will be fault codes generated 99% of the time.

Once these fault codes have been pulled the mechanic can start to diagnose the cause of the problem or problems. Each engine fault code your car's computer is generating can be caused by different types of problems so it is important that they diagnose the issues correctly. Otherwise your Check Engine light will remain on as long as the causes are not identified and fixed.

My 2007 dodge caliber looses power while driving. The warning light in upper right comes on and goes off. Then it runs fine. Why does it do that?

Sometimes you can get an intermittent problem to display from a Scanner. It depends on the onboard diagnostics. Some cars will store an intermittent defect a certain number of times before it locks on the "Check engine" light.

You can get free scans at Autozone, Advance, or Oreilys. Most do not like to test the car if the light is not on constant. The Dealer may have a machine capable of looking into the History log for your car's computer. But really good scanner can give more options.

Warning light check engine light turns on, sometimes after 10-20 minutes drive. The engine is perfectly OK. Indicator light is off after the car has "rested" during the night.

You may have a sensor malfunction. Have a mechanic run the codes and see if there are any stored in the computer. Just because the engine runs OK now does not mean it will continue to do so. The reason the light goes off after the vehicle has set over night may be due to the vehicle not sensing the issue after the long passage of time, until you begin driving again.

I have a 2007 nissan armada. Check engine soon light came own this morning. It's not running bad at all.

Check engine lights are sometimes referred to as dummy lights . Today with all the technology , it is a useful electronic device not only to let you know when something is obviously wrong but it also give you warning when something is worn out or the life lines of a car (Fluids) are low. Most the time when you get a engine warning light that comes on, you will not notice any performance problems at least right away. That's why they call it a Engine Warning light. Yes, sometimes, rarely the light will come with nothing wrong, but that does not happen to often, and for piece of mind I would assume it is accurate. Here is what I would first do, is check all you fluids and make sure they are full, like Oil, water, power steering fluid, transmission fluid. If those seem ok, then checks hoses (for no leaks) and belts are tight. Also keep and eye on your gauges on dash for battery amps , running where they should be. Watch your temp gauge to see if not getting to hot. Assume to your best guess and checking and can't find anything wrong, then take it to a good local mechanic and they can hook it up to there computer and Instantly it will tell them what is wrong and where. If there is. Problem please Do Not trust just them if it is anything major, get a second opinion and don't tell the second place you just had it check, let them put it on machine , like it was your first visit. Then go from there,if you can fixit yourself, or it is simple. They also can afterwords, turn light off. Good luck, mike
