Question about 2006 Cadillac CTS

Open Question

OIL I switched to Castrol 5W-30, good ole regular oil and it doesn't burn as much! I had the same problem, the air filter was dirty as all heck, check it, the way the car gets it's air it is susceptable to sucking in a lot of ****! When the air filter is clogged it causes the engine to burn more gas, decreasing gas mileage and burning oil. Not saying this is your problem but it could be!

What brand of oil is best and how much? do I use the 5w/30?

your Rav 4 uses 5W-30, and any premium full synthetic oil and a good filter is fine-Castrol, Moble One, Valvoline, Pennzoil, Quaker State, Royal Purple, Amsol...all are very good brands, some a little better than others but you can hardly go wrong with any of them-all are good for 5000 miles + before change is needed, just buy a decent filter like Purelator 'PureOne', Wix, Morotcraft, K+N or Bosch, look at the packages and read filtering capabilities, they are all good filters with anti-drainback valves which helps protect many engine components on startup.

I need to flush out my oil and what kind of oil dose it take

I would use 10 W 40 oil in it. If you are in a super cold area use 5 W 30 in it. Castrol GTX is an excellent brand, you can use your personal favorite brand if you like. Avoid using store brands and stick with the brand names with oil. You will need to change the oil filter too when you change the oil, and you can get oil filters at any auto parts store. It is also a good idea, to change your air, and fuel filter regularly too. Figure out what you are going to do with your old oil before you drain it. Ask the auto parts store where you get the filter if they take old engine oil for recycling. Old 1 gallon milk jugs or old antifreeze jugs are great temporary containers to hold old oil.

What is oil change schedule for 2007 DTS also transmission fluid change schedule

Your vehicle's engine requires oil meeting GM Standard GM6094M. You should look for and use only an oil that meets GM Standard GM6094M. SAE 5W-30 is best for your vehicle.
The best Brand is 5W-30, Mobile 1 synthetic oil, but you can use Castrol GTX 5W-30, too. It is very important to use only one barand of engine oil.
When the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message in the Driver Information Center (DIC) comes on,
means that an oil change service is required for your vehicle.
If the engine oil life system is ever reset accidentally, you must service an oil change for your vehicle within 3,000 miles (5 000 km), or three months wichever comes first, since your last service.
The maintenace tune ups for this car are scheduled at 25K, 50K, 75K, 100K and so on.
Dealer recomend to change the transmission oil and filter at Maintenace II, at 50K, and the air filter too. Use only DEXRON®-VI Automatic Transmission Fluid.
The dealer sugest to flush the radiator every 75K and use 50/50 mixture with distilled water, and use only DEX-COOL. I recommend to flush every 50K.

Whats the best oil for sebring 2.7 rebuilt motor

Best oil you can use would be any synthetic oil 5W-30. But if your like me and most mechanic, any good 5W-30 brand of oil and filter will do as long as you do the regular service intervals. Every 3,000 miles.
Your going to need 4.7 liters of oil to fill the engine with a oil filter changed. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to answer anymore questions you may have.

Last few oil changes, the oil put in previously is just not there

you are using way to thin of an oil. minimum should be 5W-30. the thinner oil helps on start up on cold mornings because it doesnt leave a coating on the pistons. Having said that it will cause them to wear faster and you may notice a nocking noise when you first fire it up. YOu are doing the right thing by switching to 10W-30. It coats the parts better and stays on them when the motor is off making startup safer for your parts. It probably is burning because of how thin it is, check your air filter and see if it has blown into there. You could also do a compression test and make sure everything is ok there. HOwever, I think the heavier oil will do you right.

I don't have the book for my car. What type of

I have a 96 accord, same motor, my recommendations on this model are 2 different kinds, 5w-30 or 10w-30. the 5W-30 is the preferred. as for which brand, I choose to go with Penzoil synthetic or synthetic blend. both are a little more expensive than regular oil. Castrol is another great choice and Valvoline has a high mileage oil out on the market. Stick with a 5W-30 and choose your brand. Good Luck!
