Question about 1996 Cadillac DeVille

Open Question

Check engine light is on, service emissions system flashes on console, oil light will flash and car cuts off at random, sometimes car will backfire and cut off. Lots of exhaust when trying to accelerate or sometimes when starting car. Ran a computer diagnostic check for error codes and came up with: PC0113, PC1111, PC1153, IP2711, AC1347, RS0038 and RF2560. Can you tell me what these codes mean and where I should start with repairs?

Flashing service engine soon light flashes then shut off

Check engine lights have been used for over 30 years and yet most people do not know what they are used for.
The check engine light tells the driver a problem exists with the performance or emissions of the engine. Not the actual engine itself.
Anytime something happens that could affect emissions or performance, the light comes on and a trouble code is set in the computer memory. The driver then has to have the computer scanned for those codes to know what component to have checked.

Service engine soon light

A service engine soon light that flashes generally results form an ignition problem with the engine. A service engine soon light that stays on constant results from an emission control system malfunction. A diagnostic scan from the local parts store can determine which emission system is faulty.

Car drives fine sometimes then it will sputter and not go above 2000 rpms car wont go. sometimes wont start sometimes will. its a 2005 ford escape. the check engine light has been on for two years and has...

sputter, backfires, droping of rpm's usually coz of fuel stravation, check fuel pumps, fuel filter, cars with carbs checks fuel floats fuel line... if fuel line is blocked will result with the same symptoms... another angle you need to check is electrical... uneven or unstable electric supply will result to the same problem... if your encourtering bad smell, maybe you have an overheat engine, or oil level is very low... check brakes maybe you have a broken brake linnings { this just pops up to my head}...

Service engine soon light is flashing

When the light comes on without flashing, it just means an emissions problem, when it starts to flash it has become more serious. I suspect that there was an error putting the plugs and or wires. That computer can determine if there is a misfire and it will put out a P040X, code where X represents which cylinder is the problem. This will help you not have to take each one apart. If there are more than one, check each number.

Ex. P0401 means there is misfire on cylinder number 1

P0400 is a random misfire detected.

If you take it to an Advance or Autozone they will usually scan if for free.

By the way, if you used cheap plugs instead of platinum plugs that could do it too.

Hope this helps.

2005 FORD TAURUS WITH 43,000 MILES...ENGINE LIGHT JUST CAME ON...IS THIS AN IMMEDIATE ACTION ON MY PART?

I think the problem is from the Emission System, something must have gone worng with it. and sometimes it is necessary to check the O2 Sensor as well. But it will be better you scan your car with the computer and so as to know where the problem comes from, so the error code from the scanning will now indicate the repair to be done on your car. Kindly take your car to an Auto Service Center to retrieve the error codes and then ask then to repair it for you or you forward the error codes to us so as to know the best repair to be done on the car. Thanks

CHECK ENGINE FLASHES WHENEVER I DRIVE THE CAR.

The Check Engine light usually means the car has an emission system problem. Diagnosis requires an OBD2 scanner.

But first, check your gas cap. Is it loose? How good is the O-ring or gasket? A poor seal is the most common Check Engine cause.

Good luck.

Check engine light flash then steady

Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with one of the components or sensors it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light to tell you that there is a problem and you need to diagnosed and repaired it. The list of possible codes number in the hundreds. The code itself doesn't tell exactly what component is defective - it only indicates where to look, or what engine parameter is out of normal range. You or a technician will have to perform further testing to pinpoint cause and the proper repair. If the light is flashing there is a severe failure of the emission-control system that is causing the engine to misfire to the point that the catalytic converter is damaged each time the Check Engine Light flashes. Even if you reset the light, if the underlying problem is not addressed it will come back on.

Abs light flashing sometimes, engine not starting sometimes

Are you absolutely sure it is the ABS light that is flashing?

Also, to confirm descriptions, when you state that when you try to turn it back on you get "nothing, doesn't even crank" are you saying there is no click for the starter relay, no starter engagement, and the engine doesn't spin over?

Your description of the noise when you turn the truck off sounds a bit like the sound a muffled backfire might make. Maybe the truck is running really right, but that wouldn't explain the ABS light flashing. It could explain the Check Engine Light (CEL) flashing as running rich enough to backfire would be an emissions issue which would cause a flashing CEL.
