2001 BMW 525i - Not starting - Is it a dead battery?

I am not able to start my 2001 525i - The car would crank but probably not enough juice in the battery to start the car. Is this a sign of a dead battery or the ignition system?
Also, I was not able to locate the battery. Can someone help so I can try to jump start it.

Recommend just going to your local autoparts store and picking up a new battery there. Much cheaper than a Bimmer dealer.

Assuming that the battery is indeed in the vehicle, causes could be many, slipping fan belt, battery connections oxidizing or loose. precautions may have to be taken if the car has a computer management system when jump starting.some cars have to be jump started by connecting the - (black) lead to the chassis if its a - earth system. If you have a manual read it first get a friend to help you with it.

Check the Blower motor fuse (Resistor) located on the passenger side transmission wall behind a plastic panel - they commonly go bad causing the blower motor to run on even when the car is turned off, causing the battery to drain.

Car will not crank crank shaft will not move

It sounds to me like you have a dead battery. Even if your accessory lights work it could be that your battery doesn't have enough juice to crank the engine. Try getting a jump start and see of that solves the problem for a single start. If it does, you need a new battery.

Then, yes, I would say a remote starter key with a questionable battery could cause the battery to drain. Could be that all the necessary components are not being de-energized.

I would add that it's a long shot, but it's worth a try.

My 2004 bmw 525i wont start or crank although the battery has full power

won't crank????? Starter motor probably. Crank but won't run...fuel pump, crank sensor, coil pack and/or computer.
could also be the relay sending full juice to the starter motor.

No, but did you clean the terminals and the contacts before you put it together? Sometimes there will be enough juice to light up the dash but not enough to crank the starter, the starter draws 13+ volts, did you check the battery? Check the specific gravity? All that? Check the voltage at the terminals and then check the voltage at the wires away from the terminals. Unless you hit a raccoon the night before the battery went it, you shouldn't have upset the transmissions neutral safety switch. I have seen new batteries come in dead, and I think the problem might be dirt. One more thing, there is a fusible link on the hot lead from the battery, It might have blown while putting in the new battery, check it out. Hope this helps.

Sounds like you left it too long without starting in the first place.
It's possible that you had just enough juice in the battery for the one start. Even leaving it run for a while might not put enough of a charge back to start again.
If it was a very cold night or several cold days then most of the battery could have discharged. Release the battery terminals & put some vasiline or petrolium jelly on the contacts then re-attach the terminals. This should help prevent further discharging.
Either the battery is old & in need of reconditioning or replacement or you may have a leak somewhere. Sometimes alarms can draw a lot of power from a battery if left too long.
Try another battery or see will it start no problem with a pair of jump leads attached to a car or truck.
This should tell you very quickly.
