Question about 1996 Chevrolet K1500

1996 1/2 ton 2WD Chevy does not shift correctly. Shifts correctly when tachometer and speedometer work which may be 10% of the time. Sensor problem??? Which one?

4 speed auto. Seems to be stuck in 3rd when indicator is in drive/overdrive. I can manually (pull down on shifter) shift thru gears so tranny is ok, just will not shift thru gears automatically. I suspect vehicle speed sensor but not sure. Thanks for post, any help greatly appreciated.

2003 pontiac montana shifts hard from first to second around 4500 rpms, then sparacticly shifts around until i go faster, meanwhile the speedometer is jumping around from 10 to 20mph any thoughts??

Have you checked the transmission fluid?
May be a bad speed sensor. Just guessing, but if the transmission shifts based in part on speed, and the sensor I'd jumping around because it's bad, then it's possible the computer is shifting weird due to a bad input.

1999 chevy suburban k1500 4wd eletrical problems?

As far as the speedometer not working and the transmission not shifting; I'd check the speed sensor connection on the tail of the transmission and follow the wiring to see if it is cut somewhere. If the PCM doesn't get a signal from the speed sensor, the transmission won't shift. Did the auto have wires get chewed by rats after sitting?

Hard Shifting after highway driving (1996 Chevrolet Tahoe)?

converter clutch regulator valve is worn causing line pressure to rise to maximum in turn causing your harsh shifts. Sonax makes a repair kit for it or you can install a stiffer spring to make it work correctly

Transmission won't shift properly (2 wd ) speedo does not work

Its weird but I had a fuse blow out awhile back that is the same fuse that works the cab lights when you open the doors. When this fuse went out it also made it shift odd and hard when it did shift. Since it is only intermittent in your case, It may just be a weak fuse.
