In the radiator at front of the car, drain plug is at bottom and the coolant level sensor is almost at the top of the radiator.

How can I drain Peugeot 407 2.0 diesel coolant?


That is hard to believe, since the bottom hose is the lowest point in the cooling system. There is an engine block drain plug which would let out what coolant is remaining in the engine, but it would be about a liter at most left in the engine. To completely drain the coolant, remove the block drain-there may be a drain plug on both sides of block, so you should check for that.

Trouble draining coolant on 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis


The engine holds coolant and so does the heater core, the core not much but the engine holds maybe 2 or so gallons, the engine has coolant in the intake ,heads and block. to say you can drain it all complete is impossible, unless you find drain plugs on the side of the engine block and remove them, there is one on each side of the block, if you removed those you would get 90% of the coolant,with also draining the radiator. the only other way would be with a flush machine. i am a tech and the way you said the coolant was clean and you drained all you could then i would say if you keep doing it the way you are you will be fine, i drain mine the same way every year which is to soon for some but not me and i have never had a problem. the only time i drain the blocks at work is when people dont change the coolant for years and it gets rusted, then i remove the plugs. keep doing the flush the way you are and it will be fine, good day. have a good day.

Where is the drain plug for the radiator


Should be a drain **** at the bottom of the radiator that unscrews out. It looks like a wing nut has been welded to a bolt on the end of it. Another way to do this is just pull off the bottom hose.

Drain cooling system


Make sure the engine is cold before you drain the cooling system. First remove the radiator cap. Under the hood on the bottom of the radiator you will find a drain plug. You turn it counter clockwise and drain the coolant into a container. After it has been drained add new coolant using the half and half (half coolant half clean water.) After having added the coolant. Be sure to add the kind of coolant that ,("goes with any color".) Replace the radiator cap.Run the engine to operating temerature then be sure to bleed the cooling system. They have a bleed screw near the thermostat housing . (That's where the hose from the radiator connects to.) Make sure all the air comes out from the bleed valve screw until coolant starts coming out. Tighten the screw and let the engine get cool again. check that there is coolant in the container where it says coolant only near the radiator.

Where is the engine coolant drain bolt on a 2003 2azfe camry? i found the radiator drain but can't find the engine drain plug-a photo would be great


The textbook method is to remove the drain plug on the bottom of the radiator.

Most drain plug is make of inexpensive nylon/plastic and it may fall apart while you turn it.

The professional method is to loosen the lower radiator clamp and drop to lower radiator hose.

Drain the coolant onto a large drain pan and recycle the coolant

How to change/flush coolant on a 2003 jetta


Slap on those vinyl gloves because the ethylene glycol in antifreeze can cause skin damage - however we recommend this because the antifreeze feels like engine oil.With your catch pan in place, remove the radiator drain plug and collect all old coolant. Immediately dispose of the coolant as required by environmental laws - if you are to surrender the old coolant at a waste management facility, be sure you use containers which can be properly sealed to avoid spillage, etc.To expedite the draining process, remove your radiator fill cap to allow air to enter the system.
Also be sure to remove all coolant from your radiator reservoir. We suggest you use the gravity siphon trick - just be sure not to ingest any coolant.

Watch the old coolant as it exits the system - this will give you a good idea of your vehicle's cooling system condition.If you see metal flakes, oily surface, white flakes, etc .. you can make a diagnosis of your engine's coolant system.
Essentially, if you see anything but coolant and some very minor debris, it can indicate the early signs of cooling system failure.When all coolant has been drained from the radiator, replace the radiator drain plug and then fill the system with plain tap water to dilute remaining antifreeze in the engine block.
With the cooling system refilled with tap water, replace the radiator fill cap and run the engine allowing it to reach operating temperature.When the engine's cooling fan turns on, it is an indication that the vehicle's thermostat has opened, allowing the freshly added water to circulate through the engine thus diluting the remaining coolant. Allow the engine to run for a few minutes before shutting it off.
At this point, you can either wait until the engine cools off, or take fate in your own hands and continue the flushing process.Repeat the draining process being sure to once again collect and dispose of all waste coolant.
At this point, if you have opted to purchase a radiator flush kit, you should refill the cooling system with tap water and add the caustic fluid as directed.
Run the engine for as long as the radiator flush kit calls for (usually less than 10 minutes).

Once again, drain the cooling system, collecting all waste fluid. This is the last time you will be required to collect engine coolant during this process.Now that the cooling system is empty, replace the radiator drain plug and refill the cooling system with distilled water only. The reason that you should only use distilled water at this point is to avoid mineral deposits which will deteriorate your cooling system over time.
Once the cooling system has been completely filled, start the engine to allow the water to circulate. Once again remove the radiator drain plug. As the engine runs, pour fresh distilled water into the radiator fill hole at the same rate that it exits the system.Continue this process until the water being drained from the radiator appears to be clear and free of debris. Once you are satisfied with the drain water's appearance, stop the engine and allow all remaining water to drain out.Replace the radiator drain plug and prepare to mix your distilled water and coolant.
Be sure to mix your coolant to the ratio recommended by your manufacturer. In most cases, the ratio is 50% distilled water and 50% coolant.
As a tip, mix the coolant and water in a third container being sure to observe the proper ratio.As you mix your water and coolant, use your hydrometer to measure the specific gravity - this will give you a good idea of whether or not you are mixing the coolant and water properly.
Once you have mixed enough coolant and water to fill your engine's coolant system entirely, grab a funnel and place it in the radiator fill hole.Fill your radiator at a rate of no more than:
{ 1 L/min. \ 1.1 US qt./min. \ 0.9 Imp. qt./min. }.
Continue the filling process until the coolant reaches the bottom of the fill neck. Now fill the radiator reservoir to the full mark.
With the radiator fill cap still off, start the car and allow it to idle. As the engine runs, continue to add coolant as air escapes the engine and cooling system.As you top up the radiator, be sure to "burp" the cooling system by firmly squeezing the radiator hoses (both upper and lower). Continue to squeeze and release the hoses to help push any errant air bubbles out of the system.
Once you are unable to fill the radiator any further, replace the radiator fill cap and stop the engine - you are finished.

How to flush radiator in a 2004 Mitsubishi endeavor


Drain your existing coolant from the coolant system there should be a drain petcock on your radiator along the bottem. Once the coolant is drained add water and a radiator flush solution, availeable from most auto parts stores, refill your coolant system and run your engine usually 10 minutes or more. Check the instructions on the type of cleaning solution you buy. Afterward drain the coolant system, flush with water by filling and running it again, then drain and service with proper level of coolant. Always remember to let your engine cool between runs to safely remove your radiator cap DO NOT remove the radiator cap if engine is still hot from running.

Overheating but reading normal on gauge . bubbling in overflow bottle .


Some bubbling may be normal. If it is overheating there may be air in the system and the hot coolant is not reaching the sensor, if this is the case you should bleed air from the system.

Coolant: Service and Repair
ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT
1. Remove the radiator cap, the radiator drain plug and the rear heater unit drain plug (if equipped).
2. Drain the coolant into a container.
3. Flush the cooling system with water until all traces of color are gone.
4. Let the system drain completely.
5. Tighten the radiator drain plug and the rear heater unit drain plug (if equipped).
Caution:
^ The engine has aluminum parts that can be damaged by alcohol or methanol antifreeze. Do not use alcohol or methanol in the cooling system.
Use only ethylene-glycol-based coolant.
^ Use only soft (demineralized) water in the coolant mixture. Water that contains minerals will cut down on the coolant's effectiveness.
^ Engine coolant will damage paint. If engine coolant does get on a painted surface, rinse it off quickly.
6. Refer to the following chart and select proper mixture of the water and coolant.
Antifreeze solution mixture percentage
7. Pour the coolant into the reservoir up to the FULL mark.
8. Tighten the radiator cap.
Caution: e If the coolant temperature becomes too high, stop the engine to prevent it from overheating.
9. Start the engine and let it idle until the cooling fan operates.
10. After engine warms up, perform the following steps.
1. Run the engine at 4,000 rpm for 1 minute.
2. Run the engine at idle for 1 minute.
3. Repeat steps (1) and (2) several times.
4. Turn on the main and rear heaters and verify that heat is coming from heater vents.
11. Stop the engine and wait until it is cool.
12. Inspect the coolant level. If it is low, repeat Steps 7-12.
13. Verify there is no coolant leakage.

I NEED TO FLUSH THE INTERCOOLER SYSTEM OUT AND REPLACE THE COOLANT, WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO DO THIS?


  1. Start with a stone cold engine

  2. Open the radiator cap

  3. Open the radiator drain plug and let out as much coolant as will drain';

  4. Replace drain plug and refill the sytem with distilled water

  5. Run the engine for for few minutes until it is warm (not hot);

  6. Repeat steps #3, #4 and #5 until you've effectively replace all of the coolant with distilled water. You'll know your finished draining the system when only clear water drains out.

  7. Drain the system one last time (now only residual distilled water should be in your cooling system);

  8. **** out all the coolant in the overflow tank (I use a Turkey baster or a huge syringe with a short length of rubber tubing.)

  9. Replace the radiator drain plug.

  10. Add undiluted anti-freeze to the system;

  11. Run the engine to mix the distilled water already in the cooling system with the newly added antifreeze.

  12. Check the antifreeze/water concentration with a tester.

  13. Over the next few days, adjust to the desired antifreeze/water mixture over the next several days. You'll likely have to **** out a little coolant mixture from the fill cap to create room for either the distilled water or the anit-freeze you'll be adding to adjust to the desired concentration. Sometimes I adjust by adding either water or antifreeze to the coolant- overflow tank which utimately mixes with the engine coolant;

  14. Don't forget to add collant and/or water to the coolant overflow tank.

Engine block coolant drain plug


there is no coolant drain on the block. however take the lower radiator hose off and you should be able to get it to drain completely.
