You need to have a code reader hooked up and codes read. There are many possiabilitys rangeing from a bad sensor to a pluged catolitic converter.

Try this: Your fellow owners are having problems too! http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-deville-1985-2005-including-1985/289664-2001-dts-electrical-problems.html

Read the part about checking ground connections. The body and frame of the car is the "ground" . A lot of the connections are exposed to ? Road salt. Corrosion is probably the number one culprit with bad connections. If you have had any starting problems (very cold) I would start with the battery to ground connection to the frame. Trace ground wire from the Battery Negitive terminal to
the frame. There are a number of other ground connedtions I even had one from engine to frame that improved emmisions results. A very bright flash light in the dark make tracing easier. I like the new LED lights.

1996 cadillac deville service ride control alert light is on. how do i check this out. can i fix this myself ?>

You need the trouble code (DTC) to troubleshoot exactly what's wrong - you can use a code reader to see this. If you have the road sensing suspension option, it's usually one of the four wheel vertical motion sensors, and if that's the problem, GM sells a replacement sensor kit that you should be able to install.

My 1996 Cadillac Deville takes too long to start if it hasn't ran for a while, and when it does start, it runs rough for at least 15 seconds.

Have you worked on the car at all, in the last couple
years, or just driven it,that could be a factor also

Did you replace those parts based on the trouble code? Or are you just throwing parts at it? What are the codes?

How do I reset service engine light on 1999 cadillac deville

1996 on up OBD II systems require a scanner with the 'clear code' feature to reset the SES light.

Otherwise, one can cycle starting and stopping the engine 30 or 40 times to clear the SES light. This is not recommended, though, as it takes a long time.

My engine light is flashing on my 1996 caddy sedan deville

Hi:
Usually the only problem that will make the check engine light flash is a cylinder misfire. You need to have someone scan your car to see what codes are stored to help you troubleshoot the problem. It could be something simple, like a bad spark plug, or wire, or another engine component, like an ignition module or similar, but you won't know for sure till you scan your codes. Most auto parts stores, such as auto zone, will do this for free. THen you can start your hunt , based on what they tell you.!

1996 cadillac sedan deville blinker stoped blinking

I assume all lamps are tested to be ok.
1) Check fuse A11 in trunk (10A) is ok,
2) Check turn flash enable relay 'F' in trunk is operated when vehicle Ign on,
3) Check +12V is present on Lt Blu wire on turn flasher module (LHS steering column) when Ign on,
4) if no fault found during above checks, operation of the turn switch should be checked
