Question about Chevrolet S 10

Every time I try to start the engine, the starter or crank fuse blows. it just started to do this all at once.

These can be tricky, You definetly have got a direct short to ground. I would start by checking the wiring around the batttery and around the starter to make sure it is not touching somewhere it shouldn"t be.

Fuse s under hood keeps blowing. It is the inj/coil fuse


Try jumping the starter with the key on. If it doesn't blow. Check the start wire for chafing and grounding out. You can pull the starter relay, Try to start it, see if it blows,yes, it is between the fuse panel and fuel pump. no. Put it in and pull the fuel pump relay. Start it. If it blows, then it is some where between the fuse panel and starter. If you have one of those intelligent fuse panels, it could be that also. You can have the codes read for it. But it takes a scanner, not a code reader.

Ok well I put in a brand new starter because my crank sensor keeps blowing and thinking I fixed the problem long behold I keep blowing my crank fuse when I try starting the truck I don't know wear to start


No, year make or model. But if you blow the crank fuse, it is between the starter and the ignition switch. Could be the switch, but most likely the wire. At the relay there are four pins. 30 is B+ all the time, 87 is to the starter. 85 and 86 can be switched. But one is B+ with the key in start position, the other goes to the ECM, this would be ground.. Since you're blowing the fuse, you need to find the short to ground. this would be the 85 and 86 wires.

My 1999 Dogde Stratus 2.4 cyl. keeps blowing the fuse that makes the car start. Replacing the fuse is becming costly and is annoying. What might be the reason this is happening?


if you can get to a parts store have them test the amperage drain of the starter while cranking..if its too high.. replace it..after a while the starter brushes get worn to the point where they cover more armature conacts than they should and will draw up to double what is normal for that car.. also if its not mounted right it will drag.. using way more power to work..see what happens and repost findings..otherwise you may need a hevy circiut breaker in place of that fuse..be aware of any smoking wires and potential fire hazard..

( one question i have is every time the ignition fuse blows do i need to replace the starter relay? ) NO ! You have a dead short to ground on one of the circuits that fuse feeds. Do you know how to find a short circuit ? Video's on youtube show how. The fuse that blows ,is it IGN - A 40 amp. located in the under hood fuse/ relay center ? That fuse feeds B+ voltage to the ignition switch ,which powers up other thing's ,fuse's etc.. Not just the starter relay ! I see five other fuse's that get power from that fuse when ignition switch is in the start or run position . In the I/P fuse panel the gauges fuse #4 10amp , air bag fuse #10 10amp , turn b/u fuse #16 20amp. , Plus trans fuse #20 10 amp ! Pull out these fuse an try to start the van. if the ignition fuse doesn't blow the problem is in one of these other fuse circuits. There is one more fuse that get's B+ power from the ignition switch and ign A fuse ,crank fuse fuse #8 10amp. this powers the control side of the starter relay .

If you pull those fuse's i mention and it still blows the fuse look for a shorted ignition switch or wiring from ignition to the starter relay , not the relay itself. Park neutral safety switch . Isolate the circuit , pull the relay out of it's socket ,pull the crank fuse #8 in the I/P fuse box. with a ohm meter check to see if that part of the circuit is shorted to ground. Do you know how to do that ? Do you have a volt ohm meter ? You can buy one cheap at parts store .

02 Escalade will not start


It will most likely be a poor earth issue, make sure the earth lead between the battery and the body is good and clean and check the one between the body and motor.
Poor earth connections cause excessive current draw and will blow fuses.

I have a 2004 dodge stratus that has power to lights but does not turn over when i try to crank even after jumping it off.


Hi.

Check ignition switch fuse. This is a 20 Amps. see that it has not blown. In 2004 Fuse should be nr 8 in the power box under the hood (newer models #24).

Once you are sure that battery, fuse and wires are OK, check starter and ignition switch. Check if there is 12V to starter while cranking. If there is power and the starter motor does not turn, then the motor is gone.
If there is no power to starter motor when you crank, then the ignition switch located inside the steering column may need replacement. Before repairing, try reading error codes with a code scanner.

fuse may just be old and failed or your started is bad and you have a dead short.
you want to try and fix it.
first replace the fuse.
check the wiring form battery to starter relay to starter - if all ok
disconnect the starter and start the car with the starter disconnected ( car will not start) does the fuse blow.
I hope not. - if it does you may have bigger problems.
now replace the starter, it is probably locked up. unless the engine has seized.

Every time I turn the key to start the motor it blows the 30 amp fuse what is the cause and how do I fix it


if the fuse is blowing when you turn key to start position then this is where to look for the fault ,between the ignition switch and the relay then the other side of the relay to the starter motor solonoid

I have a lhs 1996 Chrysler. The car wont start and the engine fuze burns out.


I also have a 96 LHS that randomly blows the 20 amp ECM fuse. If this is what you are referring to, the problem may be in one of your ECM sensors. 1-Start by unplugging all ECM sensors (Temp, Cam, Crank, 2-O2, TPS, etc.) and replace the fuse. 2-Crank the starter (the car will not start) and see if the fuse blows. If it does you probably have an electrical problem with the ECM. 2-If the fuse does not blow, plug in only the cam sensor and start the car; it will idle rough and the check engine light will come on. If the fuse blows, the problem is the cam sensor or wiring to it. 3-Continue plugging in sensors one at a time and try starting. When the fuse blows, you will know which sensor and/or wiring to the sensor to check. This process of elimination has worked twice for me.

Engine cut off and cant start


If the fuse blew at once, then you have an electrical short. Try disconnecting power lead to start, cover with insulating tape/electrical tape, put new fuse in place, and attempt to "start". if fuse does not blow then the starter motor has an internal fault, replace starter and enjoy. Keep me posted as you perform these tests.
