There is a nob to the left of the steering wheel that you can turn to brighten up the light of the dash. does that help?

Why and how do i fix my 2001 regal milage indicator does not light up

Pull the instrument cluster. These are prone to resistors burning out on the back of the cluster. It happened to mine. You'll need a soldering iron. I believe there are a couple of YouTube videos out there for this particular problem.

I have a 1996 Toyota Ipsum, the speedometer and rev counter sometimes run wild and it disenganges gears. What can I do to fix the problem of the speed sensor?

Sounds very much like a problem I have experienced on and off for a couple of years. If your rev and speedo gauges drop dead, your o/d light flashes and your auto gearbox doesn't like to change through the gears, then the odometer pcb has a failed chip. You can pull it apart and try to resolder the loose chip back on. But be warned this is very delicate job (more suited for repair shop) you could end up flooding other chips with solder (as i did). It can be changed out with one from the wreckers but will have to be re-set to your ks/milage. One solution at this stage, if re-soldering is your option, you can also swap your eeprom chip from your old odometer pcb to your new/used pcb from the wreckers. This eeprom carries all the historical ks/milage used. See some info on tachosoft.com (eeprom info) and info from toyota forums on speedo/rev gauges (pcb failure) In a nut shell, this pcb odometer problem kills the feed back signal back to the o/d and gearbox speed sensors etc and so the gearbox doesn't know when to change through the gears.

Check the fuse for the dash/ indoor lights. if not the problem then the actual bulb located behind the dash and gauge cluster.

I have 2 centurys and you cant see milage or what gear in either one. I have read you have to send the dash display in for repair, do a search to find who to send it to

Transmision doesnt work

That sucks, I just paid $1,400 to have my trans. re-built in my '02 (4dr.) 4x4! Trust me I feel your pain! anyway, on a model of that age I would "recommend" a used one if you can get one with decent milage on it, should be a few hundred less depending on the milage of it, especially if you '96 has high milage (150,000k or greater). Good luck.
