Question about 1989 Pontiac Firebird

1 Answer

I have a 1989 Pontiac Trans Am, 305 V-8, 5.0L engine code ''F''. The car was running very rough. After painstakingly replaceing all 8 fuel injectors, it still runs rough. What else could it possibly be? I'm running out of options. I've replaced the ECM, IAC, fuel filter, etc.

Yes. I also had the transmission rebuilt in 2005. When the car is running and parked it runs fine, soon as you put the car in either drive or reverse and start to roll it wants to buck. Sounds as though it has jumped time, but there's no way to check for that - there's no timing belt.

I have a 3.4 v6 pontiac grand am and it occasionaly cuts out and looses power when driving we replaced fuel filter and fuel pressure is good it is also not showing any codes

What year is this vehicle?
rewrite your question please.
I had an 1989 pontiac 3000 V-6 that had a simular problem. No codes, no performance, run unevenly.
I had to replace fuel injectors, they kept dying. Then to end the problem, I had to replace all 6 injectors AND the ECM, (electronic control module).

1989 ford stalls when idling ,runs rough at idle

Check for any trouble codes in the engine computer, and have the fuel pressure tested. If it is throttle body injection. observe the spray pattern of the injector when it pulses. You should see a cone pattern of the fuel spraying down into the intake. If it drips, or appears anemic, the injector might be partially clogged. Try some injector cleaner in the gas tank.

1989 Mercury Sable GS 3.0L runs rough and idles down and stalls

Sounds like you might have a stuck open EGR valve. Is the check engine light on. I would replace the fuel filter if it hasn't been replaced, also check the air filter.

Engine runs ruff

you may have a valve or valves leaking which will cause it to run rough, have a leak down test done or a compression test

My 1989 Pontiac Trans Am has a 305 Tune Port Injection engine that won't start. There is spark in all electrical components, fuel pressure but still won't start. We have replaced the computer and still...

Come to find out after spending $560.00 on electric parts that were not needed, the number 5 fuel injector was shorting out causing the engine not to start. It would turn over but wouldn't catch. I unplugged the injector and it started right up. I let it run for a bit and while running, plugged it back in and sure enough, the engine stalled. This particular engine had us going crazy. We thought if an injector went bad at least have the engine would run. Apparently this one has a safety mechanism on it so half the engine won't warp for working while the other half don't. The injector will be replaced very soon and will be back in perfect running condition.
