I'm guessing 5.0L or 5.7 L engine?
A wet/dry compression test should determine whether rings or valves. Does it burn oil all the time, or mostly when revved up ?

2001. What would cause oil to leak from somewhere on the driver's side of the motor?

Could be valve cover gaskets. The oil sending unit will also throw out a lot of oil.

My Mazda 6 1.8 16v 2005 is smoking a lot out of exhaust and using a lot of oil is it the head gasket? If it is shouldn't my car get hot if it's the head gasket? Which it isn't!

if its burning oil then its more than likely bad piston rings, worn out cylinder walls, valve seals, valve guides worn. it could also be a crack in the head or block but its not common with this motor. if its not overheating chances are good its not a head gasket problem.

Van is smoking blue from the tailpipe no oil on the plugs no oil either real bad miss do that sound like heads gaster is gone

Well blue smoke is almost always oil burning.
It could be rings allowing pressure into the crankcase or valve guides allowing oil to leak into the cylinders. Most of the time a leaking head gasket causes problems with the cooling system.
The engine can burn oil and not show oily spark plugs for a long time.

2007 Yukon xl denali burning oil

If you smell burning oil, you may have a leak in the engine compartment reaching the exhaust manifold and burning on contact. The most common cause for that is leaking valve cover gaskets. If you are losing oil with NO signs of external leaks, the engine may be burning it internally. Valve stem oil seals, worn piston rings, blown/leaking head gasket are a few causes of that.

In my safari van which is burning major oil what do i do itd not smoking it just shows black on the snow

If it is burning major oil, there will be smoke and/or your cat converter is taking up the slack. Oil burns because of leaking valve guide seals or worn rings. Valve guide seals are relatively simple - rings, major overhaul.

If it is rings and if your vehicle is over the 200,000 mile mark, it may not be a eonomical repair for you. I suggest you consider upgrading your 11 year old vehicle. New or rebuild engine will be at least $1,000.00. You will have a nice running engine but then ... the rest of the car is still 11 years old.

My van is burning oil (a lot of it) I just put in 4qt of oil two weeks ago, and again it's empty. What can i do to fix this

First you need to determine if the van is "burning" oil or "leaking" oil. If the exhaust is bluish in color, this is a good indicator that you are burning oil and you probably need a valve job. A common issue with vehicles this age is an oil leak around the valve cover gasket. Oil leaks and burns off on the manifold. If when you open the hood and smell a great deal of oil, this is more likely the cause of using so much oil. The best way is to inspect the engine compartment first. If you can't spot any excess oil there, get under the van and look for a leak near the oil pan, oil plug, or more forward toward the engine compartment. Hope you find this answer helpful. Best of luck.
